I went to see Radio Slave at the Paradise Factory in Manchester last Friday, well hyped after seeing him tear up Legends in January. After all the publicity and hype surrounding this club since it opened a few months ago I was expecting it to be rammed. After all, the guy's last few months of releases have been nothing short of stunning, his label is one of the most respected in the UK, he's topping the searches on Beatport and is all round pretty freakin' hot toast at the moment.
30 people. 15 dancing. The rest looking confused because they were there to see Shy FX upstairs.
Now, I moved to Manchester a few years back because of the club scene but recently I've become a little disillusioned with the state of affairs. Where the fuck was everyone on friday? Got to wonder if his gig in Leeds the following night was busy. Looking at the lineups across the Pennines I've got a feeling that it probably was busy, with a clued up and appreciative crowd. Anyone go?
I'm not having a dig at the nights in Manchester at the moment, the lineups are still pretty good. But for the UKs second city the crowds do seem to be a little lacklustre at the moment. A lot of people just seem to be going to these things to be seen at them. Does anyone else feel like this or am I just missing it on the really jumping nights in Manc at the mo?
Rant aside, top article, cheers for the insights.

So right! But then nothing can compare to Berghain / Panoramabar. In terms of vibe i have never seen anything like it in my life. It is just an other world. Last time i went i spent 3 hours from 5 to 8am then slept a bit then came back on Sunday at 1pm till 11pm or something! This place is just something else. I am not surprised Matt Edwards loves it so much. I saw Radio Slave a few months go in Panoramabar and it was just amazing. He played some fantastic music, dark and dirty stuff but somehow uplifting! A bit like Berghian/Panoramabar really.
the ultimate clubbing experience!
