| #0 / Wed, 13 Aug 08 21:48 Looking for a cheap (less than 150 pounds) MIDI capable controller.
So was wondering if the BCD3000 was a good choice, are there any users of this controller here?
Also what are some other alternatives that are in the same price range?
Thanks in advance!

| #1 / Wed, 20 Aug 08 12:45 The BCD2000 is terrible, doesn't work full-stop with Laptop, and is waaay to laggy on a decent-spec PC. If they've addressed those issues with the 3000 then it could be a reasonable controller.

This is completely wrong, and suggests a lack of understanding about how MIDI controllers work. The BCD2000 _does_ work with laptops, I've seen it with my own eyes. The talk of of it being "waaay to laggy" is _not_ an issue with the controller - it is the latency of the software/soundcard. It could be that the internal soundcard isn't brilliant, and you can't reduce the latency to a suitable level (around 30ms), but having seen it being used with the provided software on a cheap PC laptop with no noticeable latency, I imagine the poster simply has it set up wrong. The BCD2000 itself I'm not a huge fan of, it is plasticy and feels quite cheap - I've not handled the BCD3000, it looks very similar. There are quite a few better looking DJ-specific MIDI controllers out there, you might pay a bit more but they'll probably keep you happy for longer. That said, I'm extremely happy with my BCR2000, but it's not DJ-specific.

| #7 / Fri, 10 Oct 08 16:18 I have the BCD3000 and would recommend it to use with Traktor. If your getting into laptop djing its a safe bet and you can also have your turntables wired in too. That said, im currently looking to purchase some Pioneer CDJs and get rid of the BCD3000 because i need to get back to that 'turntable feel' with CDs For the money you want to spend - its the best option

| #8 / Fri, 10 Oct 08 18:11 It's a decent, and I emphasize that word very much, piece of gear. It's fun to play with, and I still mix with it, but after finally picking up a 1200 ($100 bucks on Craigslist!), I'm enjoying that more. There's a few things that I can say about in in regards to its strong points, and a few to its negative points.
If you're looking to beat match using the pitch faders, don't. The granularity of 0.1% makes it intolerable. The jog wheels are laughable for scrolling through tracks at default sensitivity, the default firmware is a bit tweaky. The firmware provided here (http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?p=349291&posted=1) is far better, but does change a few settings in regards to layouts that can be fixed by copying the relevant portions of the original file into the new file. The build quality is very mediocre, and the lack of per-channel effects control on the mixer is a HUGE turn off.
That being said, for the price you can get it for, it's an audio interface and highly customizable control surface that does the job, and does it admirably. For quick mixing, it's great.

| #10 / Tue, 02 Feb 10 14:58 i got an m-audio xponent! and it works perfectly... that would be my suggestion if your looking for midi controller all-in one set up. Does cost more... but it's not price of the vestax vci either! ;p

| #12 / Fri, 19 Feb 10 16:21 (Edited: 19 Feb 10 23:12) I wouldnt really recommend Behringer gear. I have experienced it being very unreliable and easily broken, i wouldnt suggest Behringer if you are going to be moving the gear about regularly.

| #13 / Tue, 23 Feb 10 14:41 For the price, brilliant. The audio quality isn't the best, however I played Sankeys with it on friday and it still rocked.
Really good fun for the price. Again though, it depends completely what you need it for. Personally I use it for advanced effects control and for quick looping. I also utilise the cueing function every once in a while (Traktor isn't always perfect as we all know). This suits me and my Macbook fine.

| #14 / Tue, 23 Feb 10 16:03 I can't say I've used any of their products (I haven't even used any digital DJ products), but I have bought and used Numark stuff and it has broken very easily.
I suppose it's the same as anything - buy cheap, buy twice - ooohh I sound like a housewife!

| #15 / Thu, 25 Feb 10 11:59 Aesthetically the Behringer BCD2000 is certainly no looker, compared to other Midi controllers currently on the market, perhaps I think this because I am a girl though! With 2 phono/line inputs, so that you can hook up your decks directly into it and a USB port, so no need for an external sound card, connectivity wise, and with the combined software (Traktor Le) its certainly got all the goods and is great value for money!
If you are willing to splash out a bit more cash, I am currently looking at and would recommend investing in the Herculese RMX, now that is what I call a smart bit of kit! Again for connectivity, 2phono/line inputs and USB and Virtual DJ software, this is certainly in the running for value for money! It has been getting great reviews and I am seriously considering getting it. The only thing that is putting me off is I would prefer to use Traktor!
BUT….. CHECK OUT THIS BAD BOY…….
For those of us who don’t have a spare grand to get that dream machine, Xone DX, American Audio have released the VMS4. I have read that it wiped the floor at last years NAMM, will be released here in the UK in April, will retail for around £599 and comes with Traktor Pro. Am drooling…what a beast! So what if it’s not Pioneer or Allen and Heath, as long as it delivers the goods, it’s a big thumbs up from me. So think am going to start saving those pennies. Manufactures take note!

| #17 / Fri, 12 Mar 10 10:50 the bcd3000 doesn't work with windows 7 there is no driver software for it - behringer haven't got a driver as yet, and not sure if they will ever bring one out.. They never reply to emails or posts to their technical department!

| #18 / Fri, 12 Mar 10 13:29 It's not quite in the price range you've mentioned but I picked up a Reloop Digital Jockey 2 Controller Edition and a Native Instruments Audio 2 DJ soundcard for £270. The controller I bought on Ebay for £190 (RRP £220) and the soundcard I picked up brand new for £80. The RDJ2 is designed for use with Traktor Pro and is stamped with the logo. I've had it working in the past and it's quality. The sound the Audio 2 produces is crystal as well. Unfortunately I've since disconnected and reconnected the unit and for some reason Traktor won't acknowledge anything I try to do with the controller! It knows it's connected and the little midi indicator flashes when I work the controls, it just won't perform the corresponding functions! Midi hurts my head...

Rubbish. They make some good gear especially since they built that behringer city (look on youtube). I own a DDM-4000 which has worked flawlessly since I got it, and a pair of B3031A monitors, which are exceptional for the price. They have build quality and sound you'd have to pay a lot more to attain. They do make a lot of shit (DJX-700), but to say all of their products are garbage is nonsense.

| #21 / Wed, 04 Aug 10 07:01 I use the Hercules Rmx and it does wonders for me. Not only does it work great for what I do, but it's a nice solid piece of equipment. I know it wont break down on me anytime soon. I pair it with virtual dj which works well for me too. I use to use hot keys and a very cheap mixer from m audio - now i couldn't be happier!

| #23 / Mon, 23 Aug 10 22:23 it's servicable, but it is pretty ugly. It's like a mixer rendered in post-war brutalist architecture. Looks awful stantioned next to my sleek new macbook

| #24 / Tue, 24 Aug 10 21:05 Posted by svr2112I got a Behringer BCD3000 and the pc I'm using runs on Vista but the Behringer only runs on XP. Nightmare! Does anyone knoew what I can do? It's not configured properly as the hardwae has no control over the music, I can only control it using the software interface. ______________ Insurance | Accident Insurance i used to run it on vista - I remember getting the vista drivers from the behringer website, and it ran fine then

| #25 / Fri, 23 Mar 12 02:18 I've got a BCD3000, I do have a small issue with lag when starting a track in traktor 2, but that seems to go after the initial track is played. I do intend to get a nice set of turntables and an audio interface later on for use with my laptop.
