 | RA Review I have to confess that I was skeptical when I saw Dubfire's name on the remix of Minilogue's "Jamaica," but wound up pleasantly surprised as the track unfolded. Paced by exotic bubbling percussion, bird noises, chimes, some nifty effects, and a stripped-down hi-hat and snare rush, the track expands..

| #3 / Fri, 22 Aug 08 08:59 was not that suprised to see Ali's mix of Jamaica since he opened a set in Sydney with it some months ago.. In all honesty I had never heard Animals played on a massive system and couldn't really tell the difference between Ali's mix and the original... Having had time to listen on a decent set of cans I can now differenciate the 2... For once Ali doesn't ruin a great song with his artistic license. Having said that its pretty hard to screw up and already great track... Overall Minilogue rock and this is a reoccuring theme

| #13 / Sun, 24 Aug 08 14:28 Ali Dubfire has come into his own of late on the remix front. Still dont know how he got signed to m_nus though he doesnt really seem to fit in with the concept of the label.

| #18 / Tue, 26 Aug 08 19:28 If you ask me the Dubfire Remix is overrated. It's very plain and dumb track, with many repetitive fragments and sounds, pretty annoying after listening to it for a while. I just can't understand the whole hype about Ali Dubfire and his productions / remixes. For me there are dozens of tracks sounding the same while no one pays attention to them.
Nah...

| #19 / Tue, 26 Aug 08 19:40 Does Ali deserve all the praise he has been getting the better part of the past two years...probably not, but he does deserve most of it...stylistically there is nothing ground-breaking about his productions/remixes, but sonically, they get the job extremely well, especially behind a proper sound-system...sure many younger producers can match him and even exceed him stylistically, but sonically, there are few tracks out there that cause more mayehm on a dancefloor then something that has left Ali's studio...

Minilogue is mindblowing as it is and with The Mole's touch on Hispaniola the result could not be anything less than awsome. Ali's remix of Jamaica is gonna pump up dance floors around the globe for sure, even if most don't like admiting it.

| #21 / Wed, 07 Jan 09 16:42 This Dubfire remix is NOT tough to mix out of, at all... it fits so well with so many other records, and like all of Dubfire's work, is very easy to overlay other tracks for 4 to 5 minute transitions.
Try mixing Jona's 'Altiplano' into this one at the halfway mark... amazing!
