Seems this cheese requires more than just one acquired taste.

| #19 / Mon, 01 Sep 08 19:01 one third into it and it's already hands down the best mix of the year so far. pure fun. big up for Heartbreak. I'd go to their parties. Ali's stuff on Dissident has been really convincing so far. Nice one. Usually i wipe the mixes of the HD once i heard it a couple of times. This one stays.

| #26 / Mon, 01 Sep 08 23:41 i find it funny when no-one can take a mix like this but will lap up every mix from minimal house dj 'x' every other week. i mean mixes like that are ten to the penny these days, name a blog and theres a mix the very same as last weeks on there, anything a bit different and everyone throws up the shield.

If that's the case, why did everyone love the Aeroplane mix so much?

Everyone enjoys a different type of cheese. I like a sprinkling of parmesan rather than a vat of fondue...

Probably because it was very average. Also the continual cheese references are starting to grate.

Ah, the snob argument: music that enthuses many people can't possibly be good. Thank god for the smiley, otherwise I'd think you were really serious..

| #48 / Thu, 04 Sep 08 01:00 Jesus, the hating on this mix is both depressing and pretty predictable. As Bazz Walsh said how many by numbers podcasts on this site get lapped up, featuring all the "freshest" in dull minimal house land. The guys here - yes they may look like cunts in the photo, but no bigger a cunt than dickie hawtin - but they have brought a mix that crosses over disco, house, electro and italo, cuts from over 20yrs ago to brand new music, and half the replies rabbit on about cheese. yes, italo is a somewhat niave sounding music, but it was inventive and higly influential on a lot of producer and djs that went on to develop house and techno.
And as for it having to be a part of some "80's revival" when are people going to start accepting and listening to music from across the length and breathe of dance music history without worrying about it being part of any revival or trend. There is such a wealth of music now contained over the last 30yrs people should stop worrying about whats old, whats new, and just take from it all, such as what the guys with this mix have done.
And as for "why do I like this?" why are you questioning your own taste, what are you worried about??

| #49 / Thu, 04 Sep 08 03:45 I love reading the comments of people who come across all worked up in their rants. It cunjures up images of people sitting @ their desks reading blogs with a pencil (or pen) clasped firmly between 2 hands and bent til its snaps, from which a splinter flicks up in thir eye causing more greef as they make a trip to the hospital. We should all keep our view to ourselves so that the defensive lots pulsating vein in their foreheads can relax... As Svenone said...
...its all interpretation. (quite clearly doesnt get used enough)

| #50 / Thu, 04 Sep 08 04:35 I listen to all the mixes on headphones at work, and this has been the first for quite a while that held my attention all the way through, rather than ending up as attractive aural wallpaper. Great interview, too (politicised disco... who would've thunk it?).
