SIS - Nesrib cover
RA Review
Best known for one of the earliest releases on one of last year's most dependable new labels, Cécille Records, SIS, AKA Burak Sar, makes a brand of deep fever techno that would make most Cadenza 12-inches sound buttoned-up and downright bow-tied by comparison. His second release on the label, the N..

Holly Bolly makes my head bob, a bit short. But its so funky it gets away with it :)

nesrib is the one - heard luciano drop it twice at fabric - he built about half an hour of his set around it!

absolute smasher, can't wait to play it out

Worth more than 3.5 I think. Especially after seeing the damage it caused in DC-10 this summer. Unbelievable

This, more than 'Trompeta' shows promise for more than a cookie cutter Vilalobos-lite style - then again, it might be time for a bit of Diet V anyway. Rocks my boat to a reasonable extent.

Tune of the summer for me, and many others I'm sure. The rest of the EP is so so.

Yeah nesrib went down a treat at minitek too. Basically the only track that I felt was awesome during that entire weekend.

it definitely is tacky, but to me that's part of the fun of it... there is definitely a time of the night when a dose of tackiness can have an explosive effect.

Haha I'm suprised at the amount of people saying its the tune of the year!
To me its just another disposable, generic tech house track that I'd most likely find in the top ten of beatports most downloaded.
I guess I'd dance to it on an Ibizian terrace but I'd probably dance to the spice girls in Ibiza.
I doubt it will have a long shelf life... at least I'm hoping not , to still be hearing it at Christmas would be annoying. I reckon there will be some remixes to come yet too...

It's definitely not the tune of the year, but during the summer I need some shameless house bangers and this one did the job all summer long. The summer is for partying, that's why this tune came out when it did.

I second that. Even though I basically been there only Sat night and Sun afterparty - but this one is the only track I remember despite being quite liquered at the time of the fest.
After listening to the full version I agree that there's not that much to it but what's there is soooper fun. It reeeally reminds me "Style of Eye - Gioco" - banging beat and numerous breakdowns with chicks yelling at you - foolproof really. Sadly will be probably this year's Heater - just too damn catchy.

Not sure why Selleys there has quoted a bit of my review of "Nesrib," but yes, that is what I think.

Nesrib i listened a lot in Romania this summer, but it was known with the name "Standing", it is my favorite from the three. Dim Dim wins the second place, though i had to listen to it a few times to feel it and start really enjoying it. As for Holly Bolly - definitely not my track.

Like on a very, loud soundsystem at 7am with everyone smiling, screaming and jumping.
That's how.

1st time I heard it I nearly wet myself...it was really simple yet so effective, loving all the vocals in tracks lately cheesey but in a cool way.....great track but definitely short shelf life...I can already see it being on some awful "Anthems" album next year as well as trompeta.
Hollybolly is a great track for dropping over other techno tunes...fits nicely with anything. I just hope SIS doesnt go down the commercial route, have some really nice deep house material from him a few years back....Headphones

I totally agree. Loved Nesrib very much at summer time when I discovered it but won't get into my top 10 of the year cause as you said it has a short shelt life.

i honestly can't understand the sis hype at the moment. i admit that his productions are charming due to a certain immature character and therefore they are very functional. but - imho - there's nothing really outstanding. a raw jackin' beat, a rough bassline and either vocal or instrumental snippets layered on top. fine for the very moment but i guess these tracks will be kinda short-lived.

But sometimes thats all a track needs to sound good...good producers find it actually quite hard to make some thing simple as your constantly thinking oh it needs more it needs more but a lot of the time it doesnt,I doubt SIS is out to create any sort of epic track that will live on forever...he's defintely more about the fun side of electronic music.

that's exactly the quintessence about his way of producing tunes. there was an outstanding and highly informative feature about the oslo/cecille-crew in the german groove magazine. there's a statement that sis made and he said that sometimes he only needs half an hour for blending together all the necessary ingredients for his tracks. nothing more, nothing less.

the tracks are nice, functional and filled with a high amount of electronic funk, but i wouldn't play them anymore after a season's time.
