Posts / 67 RA Since / Nov 2007 | #10 / Tue, 07 Oct 08 01:05 I think it's not a question of permits, but more a question of if the police / governments like you or not. When authorities are decided to screw you, they will do it, whatever your permits, whatever your fame...The permit reason is totally hilarious since if you've been to this place, you know that you can fit easily a 1000 people and not fucking 65. DC10 is the best afterhour ever and I feel really sorry for the whole crew. This problem is worldwide (we experienced exactly the same kind of shit in NY) so let's join and protect our lovely nightlife

Yeah Mate! but also to preserve club culture that in my opinion means also clubbers care. I agree with restrictions where there is no attitude!

| #14 / Tue, 07 Oct 08 12:43 i've never been to ibiza but it seems the authorities and locals are sick of the club culture. Berlin seems to be the hub of club culture at the moment

| #16 / Tue, 07 Oct 08 16:14 Gutted about DC10 but expected. It has taken the piss for the last 10 years and finally the government has caught it out. There is no other club in the world like it where the crowd and djs's and everyone appear to be on a similar level of pure hedonism.
Glad to have made it out there for what appears to be the last 2 parties ever at DC10. The memories will stay with me for a long time from the last 8 years i've been going.

New user Posts / 7 RA Since / Mar 2005 Location / California | #20 / Fri, 10 Oct 08 16:20 It's the Ibiza Club Mafia that own the authorities in the island. Jealousy and greed didn't let DC10 continue. Same amounts of drugs were consumed at Manumission but no one ever shut it down. It's alll bullshit. All those assholes controlling the island just killed an amazing place

No more dancing in the open air on the terrace to good tunes in the afternoon, which to be honest was the best bit in my opinion. We had a pretty shit evening there. Time for something new.......

| The fucking fuckers fucked the fucking fucker up... |
 |
| #24 / Mon, 13 Oct 08 12:26 The Disco Mafia are the big clubs like Space & Pacha, who have a big influence over the ibizan goverment, and use there power to try and get the smaller clubs like DC10 shut down so its more money for them!!

He means mafia in a general sense of a conspiracy, not in an Italian sense. The Asociación de Discotecas de Ibiza was comprised of Space, Privilege, El Divino, Amnesia, Eden, Pacha and El Divino. Anyway I think teh Asociación de Discotecas eventually broke up over various disagreements but it's these clubs which have the influence on the island. What also is less commonly known is that Abel Matutes, former Spanish Foreign Minister, is supposedly the largest shareholder in Space and Privilege. www.ibiza-spotlight.com/night/reviews/2004/influence_i.htm quote: That fact is not on the 63-year-old's official CV, but his résumé does list a spell as the Mayor of Ibiza, honorary professorships at various universities, a vice presidency of the Ibiza and Formentera Employers' Tourism Sector Organisation, and other important political posts in Spain and elsewhere in Europe.
National newspaper El Mundo says the Matutes family are to Ibiza what the Kennedys are to Boston. The clan is said to own large swathes of leisure-oriented real estate and while they're not actually booking the djs or running the clubs, today's Ibiza scene wouldn't be what it is without their investment and continued sway over island institutions.
'continued sway over island institutions' is, I assume, a reference to the fact that Matutes's daughter went on to become Mayor of ibiza.
