 | RA Review I'm not sure if there's still angst over the dubstep-techno crossover but Berlin-based, London ex-pat Paul Rose AKA Scuba's remix single series for A Mutual Antipathy pretty much sets the whole thing in concrete. The first in a run of three 12-inches, this single brokers deals with British techno..

| #1 / Tue, 18 Nov 08 14:23 meh, i checked these out the other day. these remixes sound too forced, the best part about the dubstep techno crossover is that it felt natural.seems like scuba being in berlin now has an agenda to fill.
i could very possibly be over reacting and end up loving these remixes down the line, but right now it just seems like paul and hotflush are trying too hard to find this new identity and owning it.

| #2 / Tue, 18 Nov 08 14:53 (Edited: 18 Nov 08 21:47) have to disagree there, marsyas. as opposed to what many are typically happy to call the dubstep/techno crossover - namely a certain degree of 'techiness' infiltrating the tried-and-tested dupstep sound palette - what we have here are two perfectly unique hybrid beasts which refuse to fall into any particular generic pigeon-hole. for me, this is next level stuff, and proof that dance music still has plenty of territory left to explore. credit to scuba for getting this together. more please! (nice review, btw.)

| #4 / Wed, 19 Nov 08 11:42 i love the substance remix.
it's funny how his remixes of other artists are so much more interesting than the non-reissue stuff on scion versions (admittedly i'm thinking specifically of the monolake ones from a couple of years ago and this - but this is definitely some of the best dub-techno of the past few years).

| #6 / Thu, 20 Nov 08 17:11 If the Dubstep scene have artists that always move forward... Paul definitely is one of them... In the middle of all 'generic wobble bass clownstep' pile that is released today... These pieces out on Hotflush are revigorating... Big up Hotflush!

| #8 / Thu, 25 Dec 08 19:55 IMO it sounds like Vex'd has been listening to the production qualities of Rustie as exhibited especially on tracks like 'Zig Zag' - with the juddering submerged synth steadily weaving its way in and out of the mix.. ..
