Mlle Caro's Radio Slave remix and Ricardo's Shackleton remix were the higlights for me.
The Frankie Knuckles remix of Hercules & TLA was pretty poor and the Dubfire remix is an absolute atrocity!

you should have been at fabric in august when radioslave dropped it. never seen the crowd go so crazy. it was so good!

I was there and I actually heard it twice that night as Weatherall dropped it a few minutes later in room 2. However I think Weatherall played the Danton Eeprom's vocal version, which is better.

I love Guillaume but to me the original had so much more character and atmosphere to it. The fact that it's Sety's first production in like four years is all the more impressive. bizarre comment. nice list philip. those two scuba remixes you included are personal favourites of mine, too, although with there being so many in the series they obviously never stood a chance of charting. i don't know why substance's remix work is so much more interesting than his original productions (on scion versions...) lately.

Guess it doesn't quite fit into this rubric, but god damn if it ain't the most artistic mash up since Girls on Top threw an acapella of Whitney Houston's I wanna dance (with somebody) on top of a well edited version of Kraftwerk's Numbers.

all of the remixes are from previous years though... the Ernestus dub came out in 2006 I think.

all of the remixes are from previous years though... the Ernestus dub came out in 2006 I think.
Okay, didn't know that, but CD release came out in '08 so it registered in my world as an 08 release and counted.

it is, no doubt.. it was always like this remember the "progressive" days (the most bizzare genere term ever created btw), when there was so much thing goin on in microhouse, deephouse, jackin' and electro scene, yet  was full of "progressive" hypness. My conclusion is that should focus a bit more on other styles and not just the most popular ones (RA podcast is slightly goin in this direction, some album reviews also). Yes it is a poll and people's choice, but by promoting other styles & generes tru whole year helps a lot...

Avoid Dubfire?Thats a bit narrow minded.Avoid ATB maybe yes but his remix of Grindhouse was phenomenal.If you heard that played in Space Ibiza and can still honestly tell me you will continue to avoid Dubfore ill give you a pat on the back and a big shiny medal.

Thats just a nonsense. It's a great remix, does very little to the track yet somehow ends up bringing the whole thing to life. Textbook. Pepe Bradocks work of Namlook - Subharmonic Frequencies would have been a nice inclusion, the list is a bit myopic and hype friendly in places

Soulphiction- Reclap (Kalabrese Remix) = Tropical funk
Madioko N'Rafika - Ellelli (Kalabrese Remix) = Arab funk (if you can look past the gash vocal at the start this is a top mix)
Also noteworthy
Franco Cangelli - Taking The Next Cloud (Sven Weisemanns Taking Back Mix)
Quarion - Karasu (Crowdpleaser Remix) <- sorry this was 2007
