| #0 / Fri, 19 Dec 08 09:05 I am going to invest in a full digital set up, laptop, midi controller and probably Traktor Pro.
I think I am looking at the new MacBook, Traktor Pro and the Numark Omni Control.
I would be greatful for any advise on this as I obviously do not want to spend lots of money on the wrong things.

| #5 / Tue, 23 Dec 08 14:03 Yeh I just cant afford the A & , plus I am looking for something more portable. I like the look of the Vestax actually!
I think looking at the software, Ableton Live, Traktor Pro and Logic are the basic 3 essentials from what I have read.
Also I am looking to buy a midi keyboard within £150 also, I have seen this (http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~M-Audio--Axiom-25~ID~4871.asp) which looks very good for the money to me, any more heard ups on these much appreciated.

Posts / 265 RA Since / Feb 2007 Location / manchester | #7 / Sat, 10 Jan 09 03:27 Buy a behringer ddm 4000, class for both decks and midi. I've been using cd decks and a mixer for ages, but just got one of those and traktor and it's a perfect setup. No doubt this will start a predictable thread consisting of people saying how shit behringer's stuff is without actually using it, but oh well...

Nice piece of kit.. If you got several hundred quid going spare.

| #12 / Tue, 13 Jan 09 12:41 Looking at it, the Numark Omni Control actually looks like a very decent all-in-one solution. You'll be hard pushed to find much more for that sort of money.

| #14 / Tue, 13 Jan 09 14:09 i gotta agree with the ddm4000, behringer have actually made something really worth investing in this time, and for the price you cant really go wrong.

Posts / 13 RA Since / Jun 2008 | #16 / Tue, 13 Jan 09 18:42 I have an Omni Control. My set up is a Mac book pro, Omni Control. NA Audio Kontrol 1 and Ableton Live it works well. But im positive the Omni Control isnt yet compatible with Traktor Scratch and Pro they haven't got a driver for it yet. Check on the Native Instruments forum.

You can get them for less than £200, and I've been hammering mine for months. It works really well, and is easy to carry to gigs etc. I'd give that a try if you can.

| #21 / Fri, 29 May 09 18:14 i made the mistake of buying numark omni control and its doesnt work properly with traktor pro even though they offer traktor le free with the mixer, it is such a shame cause for the money the mixer works great with ableton and sound quality is excellent

New user Posts / 2 RA Since / Jun 2009 | #26 / Mon, 15 Jun 09 06:23 Hi there, I have just got traktor pro for my Omni control and was having problems, i googled the 2, and your reply came up so i thought i'd write.
I took advantage of the traktor LE offer (which is advertised as you shut it down) to get traktor pro and i am furious that there was no warning that it compatable with the Omni considering Traktor LE came free with the Omni control !
I have only been using it for a couple of hours thanks to a busy weekend, i experienced a few Mini crashes and the effects dont seem to work. I will be having a few hours on it this evening so i get more info first hand. I just wanted to know what is and isnt working with your set up and in the end is it worth getting my money back... Have you complianed to Native Instruments?
Extremely gutted. Sergio.

New user Posts / 4 RA Since / Jul 2009 | #32 / Wed, 15 Jul 09 21:56 if you're at all concerned about budget, LOOK INTO EBAY
there are some cheap used items in great condition on there. Seriously, just decide exactly what you want, and check ebay everyday for a month and i'm sure you'll find what you want by the end of the month.

New user Posts / 9 RA Since / Nov 2008 Next @ Deep | #34 / Thu, 30 Jul 09 03:25 Faderfoxes are a good choice. I had the two designed for Traktor. One for loops/FX and the other for mixing. (I'm selling the one for mixing on ebay if your interested haha!) Now I use just the one for loops and FX and use an Allen& Heath Xone 92 to mix.

 |
| #35 / Thu, 30 Jul 09 04:02 For me, the Xone-1D is great...easy to carry to gigs and feels just like my Xone:92.
I saw a few comments about Traktor crashing...never had the problem or known anyone that has had the problem; is it Traktor or your laptop?

New user Posts / 9 RA Since / Oct 2009 | #40 / Wed, 04 Nov 09 13:01 I had a play with those new Stanton touch sensitive controllers (SCS 3d / m) at a trade show last year - I was surprised at how responsive they were, although the whole 'touch sensitive' thing may not be to everyone's taste.
They're also nice and compact.
