Actually i was lying. If I'm ever in a club and see somebody on their own I go over and mock them loudly for not having any mates. Or else i whisper about them behind their backs.

Sorry to bring this up, but i went there last night on me own! Was good music but it was hard until it started to get busy.. such a small place means ya stand out quite a bit, but once it filled it was fine. got chatting to a few ppl and was there for the music so being on your one isnt too much of a problem for me

anyway.. next time ya can afford it, defo dont be worried about going on your own.. id do it again if i wanted to go!

Also been to Fabric twice on me own.. including hr and half travel there and back... went once when i was 18 as i was desperate to go, none of my mates were into it and so i thought f**k it and just went. Had an awesome night.

Went last year to the M_NUS 10th bday on my own again and also had an unreal night. Defo not a confident sort of person who chats to everyone but just had a few drinks and chatted to people in the queue... if you can find people who like the music and not the scene its really easy to get on with people.. chatted with them for an hour or so in there whilst it built up... and then spent the rest of the night having a great one

I did my lone clubbing thing a few weeks back @ Tyrant. An event that clearly wasn't to be missed. Have to say, after the initial apprehension, have to say it wasn't as bad as first thought. Bought my water, found a spot, threw some erratic shapes & got lost in my own world. Met a girl who wanted to share my Olbas™ oil inhaler , bumped met some RA'ers walked out into daylight, a splendid morning was had indeed.
Still, doesn't quite beat having ya nearest & dearest club chums around ya.
Would do it again though... Over & Out

Not a fan of the solo effort. If my mates head home, im not usually far behind. Often i'll have intentions of staying for longer once they've left, but it never happens. TAXI.

As for heading out to a club pretty confident you won't know anyone there. I say fair play to you all who dont mind that - but its not for me.

Its a bank holiday now - so lots of friends are up for a big one! Yay!

im actually considering it for sasha at fabric this sat, my mates are proving hard to convince and im too up for it to miss it, i missed him there every time he's played as i have been away working somewhere!!

Only thing that will weird is queing on my own ha ha...im sure a few billy no mates looks will be coming my way...shit happens, it's gonna be worth it...i may end up giving away a free ticket just to get someone to come with me

I'm surprised at some of ye. I'm 34 and about the only advantage to being such a geriatric is that I do not give two fucks whether I'm in a club on my own or with a bunch of mates.

I arguably have a better time on my own because it forces me to be sociable when I am in fact as misanthropic as Larry David... And after-parties are a whole lot more open-minded when you don't have friends pulling you this way and that.

It is easier abroad though...

I came across this website trying to find people who had the same music tastes as me and might be interested in the same events.

I have no trouble going to a small club by myself but I've yet to try somewhere like Matter and Fabric alone.

Do people on ever meet up in real life to go gigs/ clubbing?

I have friends who are willing to tag along (on rare occasions) as some sort of favour to me, but it's not the same as going with someone who actually likes the music. Inevitably, they will also want to go home earlier because they are bored.

Its really not a big deal. I've had some great times going out alone. I wouldn't have nearly as many friends if I didn't go out alone a lot when I was younger.

Now I can go to several clubs in my city and know a dozen faces. Some I have become great friends with.

Get outside your comfort zone and talk to people.

Going out alone is so amazing it's almost better than anything else a human being can do on Saturday night.

I've made a couple of lone ventures and definitely feel better for having done so. Especially the times when u have a fave DJ or sound crew playing. Been to fabric and Matter by myself a few times and have found it alright.. you don't have to worry about losing folk... and u get a change to explore a bit more... didn't know about the level 3 walkway at matter or the illuminated dancefloor the first time i went.. also realised that u don't have to use the stairs outside the main the main rooms to move around... it is just a big onion as one of the ra members have said!

U even get better chances to chat with DJ's to chat with DJ's etc, so i definitely consider it more nowadays. ..but it is good to go with mates.. introduce 'em to the electro sound, as i find it difficult to describe at times. Rock on people!

Only time i have done it is on new years day this year, Monocult, Johnny D @ the faversham. was ment to have a few people with me but they flopped it with the cash at the last minute so i thought balls to wasting money on a ticket and not going.

Ended up bumping into someone i would normally chat codshit too outside of stealth who i hadnt seen for 2 years who happend to "recognize my face."

It was going very well until i got messed up funtime and subsequently spent 2 days hiding under a duvet.

but if you pace yourself or even just do it sobre it can be fun meeting new and old people.

im off to t bar now for a night of lone clubbing with 100 other odd members.

so if u see a shortchina men by himself, come up and say hi!

Ripe old age of almost thirty? I wish, forty one and counting. Had no choice but to go it alone, still love it too much to stop where mates have chosen to knock it on the head. Worst things about it, expensive taxis, the feeling you get when you realise you could possibly be the oldest in the place and the looks you get from the young uns that suggest that at my age I really should know better by now.

My mate bailed on me at last minute...the shit!! went to fabric last night on me jack jones....it was awesome, no baggage, had some fun with five minute friends, guess it's easier in a big place like fabric...all in wouldnt do it out of choice but it twas just dandy oh

Yeah I found that as well when I went about a month ago. As they say if there's someone you really wanna see then its no a problem.

I might try a small venue next like Plastic People. Very small but dark enough not to feel to embarrassed plus everyone always seem to be friendly there

with a big venue you just blend in...no one notices tbh, and i spotted a few other loners..was thinking in my advanced state of rounding them up and doing a confession session with them...why r u alone...dont you have any friends etc etc...sanity prevailed

dont know plastic people but go for it if it's a good night...dont make a habit of though, i'll think less of you

There is no doubt that it's better with your mates but being on your own has some advantages which have all been mentioned in here. The biggest advantage is that you always always find someone to talk to. I went to Harlem Nights at the end and was 'adopted' in the q by a group who I spent most of the night with. I also met another group that night and one of the guys there was into his music but his mates weren't. Me and him go out quite a bit now - If I hadn't went out myself that wouldn't have happened.

We should start a 'Fancy a Pint' post where people can say 'i'm going to xxx myself - anyone fancy meeting up?'.

I used to go to a night in Scotland which had a big message board forum and I've said too a few folk to come along with me and my mates - they are still my mates today!

Better going out than sitting in watching Britain's got talent!
