 | RA Review There was a moment in 2000 when electronic music was on the verge of suffocation. Sounds were miniaturized, isolated, deconstructed and exploded. The rhythm, kick and boom were sucked dry, leaving behind only cracked skeletons and whirring machines. Labels like Raster-Noton, 12K, and Mille Plateaux..

| #7 / Tue, 17 Feb 09 16:49 Say what you want, but I miss a lot those times when electronica sounded adventurous, not only samey folktronica, tech-house and indie with samples I really like what some of the names you mention and others (frank bretschneider, vladislav delay, and so on) did, all the clicks 'n cuts thing and such, but I also understand that this was just a trend that needed an end. I set that end in Akufen's 'My Way' and since then everything became more predictable (and boring).

| #8 / Tue, 17 Feb 09 20:44 I think this album's awesome. It's the warmest thing I have ever heard Carsten Nicolai come up with. All the monophaser tracks (esp. 2 and 3) have a lot of emotional content. It's a lot less arid than I expected.

Huge fan of pretty much all of his work, Unitxt live at Sonar blew my mind. Both the Xerrox albums are fantastic and beautiful in their way. Raster Noton are far ahead of most electronic labels.
