| #0 / Tue, 20 Jan 09 19:59 (Edited: 27 Jan 09 15:16) I saw the Stanton Warriors live a couple of months back, and the person they had opening for them was just absolutely horrible. This dude DJ Clevr...it's funny because I saw him playing five years prior at a NYE party '02/03 playing some Moonshine breaks that people were feeling then. What made his opening set for the Stanton Warriors so wack was he was playing stuff along the exact same lines of what I heard him play that new years: dated breakbeat records that all sounded the same (probably the same records...most local techno DJs suck in my area because they rarely play anything new). No one was feeling what he was doing amongst that packed room as I could tell since no one was dancing. The Stanton Warriors were great though and played for nearly two hours!
That stood out in my mind. Anybody else have any experiences along those lines?

| #1 / Tue, 20 Jan 09 20:13 Steve Angello has to be one of the worst DJ's I have seen for a while. He played loads of cheesy vocal house stuff that made me cringe. Swedish house mafia, more like the Swedish cheese farmer! Its personal preference I guess though. One good thing about seeing him is that the place was wall to wall dripping with nice fanny!

CHRIST. I run and hide in the toilets when I hear that played at weddings. Nick Warren @ Nerve, Miami 2004 I tihnk (or 2005, can't remember exactly). Atrocious music and he was pretty much deafening the whole club with apalling EQ'ing.

Saw him just about a year ago and have to agree - terrible DJ & terrible music. Over-hyped garbage for kids.

Back in my MUCH younger, Sundissential days (ha!), people actually started sitting down on the dancefloor during a Judge Jules set.
More recently, seeing Mylo at the Bugged Out birthday at The End (2005 I think). He was just awful.

| #21 / Wed, 21 Jan 09 14:59 Apart from the obvious, I saw Erol Alkan a while back and he was absolutely terrible. To be fair, I talked to him afterwards and the first thing he said was "I'm sorry about that, I was awful tonight." Proper cleared the dancefloor.

so u don't like that kind of dance music...or that dj? there is a big difference. FK plays from acid jazz to techno, from dub to house to disco to minimal....and so on! It depends on the crowd...and on the mood!

I just thought as a DJ he got it wrong that day. Totally misread that particular tent. Arguably it is the fault of the promoters also for getting the programming wrong.
Im sure Raggy will agree

I know so many will want to kill me for this but Moodymann at The End Oct-07 stood out to me as absolutely horrible. Love his products but man...that was bad!

Seen them a few times and they were really dull. Not keen on their fabric cd either. Having said that I saw Philipp Jung at T bar a few months ago and he was really good.

| London’s world-renowned fabric nightclub is a juicy peach? A crisp apple? No,an onion. It has many layers and a soundsystem of such clarity that it’s been known to bring people to tears.......

I didn't rate the Fabric CD at all, so was dubious about seeing Philipp Jung at Eastern Electrics on NYE, but his set was very good. I saw Dubfire at The End last year and he really didn't do it for me.

as the first poster mentioned stanton warriors i gotta ask (although they were once fresh) do they not just play break bootlegs of all the big house and techno tracks?
trying to think of someone truly shite and its not coming to me - have always found terry francis boring almost trying to make every record sound the same

| #46 / Thu, 22 Jan 09 02:13 Without jumping on bandwagons I saw Deadmau5 recently and was incredibly dissapointed. The first 20mins were good but it slowly moved into mediocre over hyped boredom for the next 2 hours. I found it quite amusing that most people i spoke to afterwards didn't speak about the tunes just about the fact he didn't wear his mouse mask.

| #47 / Thu, 22 Jan 09 02:51 Anne Savage at The End on Sunday just gone for the Riot party. I went purely for a laugh and to get pissed with some friends and as the place is closing the following week! I'm into anything BUT hard dance as those who know me will tell. She was fucking terrible. How on earth is she a fucking professional is beyond me! Nasty riffs all the way. Great crowd though - super friendly!

Yeah, they were just playing break bootleg remixes of all the biggest tracks out. It got a bit predictable after a while but the energy they created amongst the crowd in attendance was amazing. Near the end, a bunch of women ended up rushing the stage and the club ended up closing late. But yeah, Stanton Warriors were hot, just like breaks were once upon a time...but still it was on their North American tour and very few acts like them end up coming to my town so I made it somewhat of a duty to go to the show.

I've heard Craig play both brilliant and terrible sets. Or at least, terribly boring sets. @ Nola. I think it's quite possible Craig might have played the worst set that poster had ever heard. Just depends how many times he/she has heard Craig play ... and how much they go out to venues other than Fabric. A genuine opinion isn't wrong, just every opinon needs to evaluated in the context of who offers it, and what their background is imo.

The one time I've heard Felix play out was at Space (Ibiza) about 2004. I thought he did a good job; technically not great but he played tunes from good to excellent, no selections really bombed, and everyone had a great time. From what I hear around the place Felix can be very variable. Or perhaps just lazy. I think he's decent when he tries.
