| #1 / Wed, 28 Jan 09 19:32 "Will 2009 be the year that burnt down the house?" sure if you introduce every further articles, we might put Hard Trance again on a map. What do you want, pilled up kids jumping up at 190 bpm's on gabber, this is what wants for 2009 ??? if it is continue your ways, you might change the trends... Anyhow, i've never seen a year like 2008 with so much smilling girls on the floors all over and this is what i want period! I think your introduction is a bit edgy pointing to the fact that you're talking about a house producer... Anyways, maybe 2009 would finally find a decent competitor, we really really needs it !

| #3 / Thu, 29 Jan 09 01:38 Love love love his productions. I'd be pissed if he stopped making digital downloads available. He is one of the few artists (and labels) where pretty much EVERY track is a winner.
(This was posted on a duplicate thread for some odd reason)

| #7 / Thu, 29 Jan 09 20:29 at the end of the day music should be judged on whether it's good or not . a lot of stuff that's called house these days is so far removed from house it's not even funny . whether it's house , techno or whatever is irrelevant . good to see michel get the props he deserves .

Great cover of a great artist.
And
"mutilated by an algorithm"?!
Classic!
'Annihilating algorithm' (there's a good 2009 anthem)

| #9 / Fri, 30 Jan 09 03:17 This article is full of curious assumptions.
"Kenny Dixon Jr. can fulminate for as long as he wants about white-boy soul: German producer Jackmate is the man to prove him wrong."
That's a pretty loaded opening statement thrown out there with little evidence, not revisited later in the piece, and as far as I can tell, KDJ's 'fulminations' not explained or given any context. What it implies to me is: "KDJ is angry about white artists doing black music" and "Jackmate's material is so 'authentic' that it would change his opinion." Am I interpreting this correctly?
Later, the article does mention Jackmate's experience absorbing funk and soul and an early age, via American military bases. But that's not enough to convince me that his music is any more or less relevant as house/techno made by KDJ or other American artists.
Among the other assumptions: "Detroit is a ruin." Not so fast. Detroit has it's share of challenges, but it's far from an economic or cultural ghost town. In fact, it's artists and musicians consistently produce some of the best selling hip-hop and techno records in America.
I'm not knocking Jackmate or his music - praise him all you like. But either substantiate a thesis with supporting information, or leave it out.
It's statements like those at top that make me wonder why I see so few artists of color from the techno or house world as main features in RA. I'm not talking about reviews - I mean features. And I'm not implying an editorial bias exists (perhaps a preference though), but appealing for more prominence and inclusion for black and brown producers.

| #10 / Fri, 30 Jan 09 09:52 guess i have to say something concerning the last comment.
I never compared myself to any producer from Detroit, nor did i compare Stuttgart and Detroit. to be honest, i´m also completely tired of that!
all i did was explaining, why and how black music influenced me, and i also reviewed the records you find in the article... I didn´t write the article and I don´t want to represent any genre or save House Music...
sorry if you felt offended..

| #12 / Sun, 01 Feb 09 12:42 Michel has definitely not got the recognition he deserves over the years.. - his Soulphiction moniker is not even listed in the DJ pages of this web site!
His philpot label is quality, and every track he produces and/or remixes is GOLD.

He's probably better known as Moodymann.
