Damian Lazarus - Moment cover
RA Review
It's hard to know what to make of Damian Lazarus' "Moment," to be honest. The track begins by shamelessly ripping off Spiritualized on the piano, then features Lazarus singing (!?!) and an extended horn section somberly playing a repeated theme, which leads into a four-four kick drum that gives room..

its a bit loopy for my liking and doesn't really ghange much, would make a good tool for someone like reboot but i'm not overly keen.

Next @ Klubnacht
He knows how to play it so that it sounds like the greatest thing you've ever heard.

seconded on beginning, its awful and for soem reason im pretty sure i heard that melody before. I cant remember where though. Anyways there are only small 10 - 20 second areas in this song i like. it would be good in a disney movie..

What kind of a stupid comment is that? I'm glad that Resident Advisor does any (quality) reviews at all.

Dude I'll bet that Get Physical just mails obscene amounts of promos to RA. Meh who cares.

As for this track, Lazarus is killing me with the vocals and the tempo. It has interesting elements...it just doesn't have any f**king cajones. I know calling a track ball-less is ineloquence on my part, but seriously. It's pure sap.

don't think every track has to be "ballsy". Whimsical house or whimsical techno is valid sound and this is certainly very different from what almost anyone is putting out

i appreciate it even if it's not quite the floor mover some are

Who doesn't love experimentation and off-kilter sounds? I'm not saying every track has to be ballsy (although I totally prefer tracks that have more weight than whimsy). This one in particular is just utterly ball-less :p.

I have listened to this track several times though and I just don't hear the same appeal and charm that others are hearing. Hmmm...Maybe the vocals are too offputting for me. To each his own.

It is interesting in a Knife/Fever Ray/Raz Ohara demented pop way. Just can't imagine it being big on the dancefloor. Fingers crossed for a decent remix, Jamie Jones maybe.

Absolutely love this, love that bass noise. Don't find it particularly whimsical. And if you don't like it why post 3 times? Go find something you do like ..:D

hes very left field, doesn't really follow what the majority are playing or trends for that matter

alot of people just dont get him, i've been waiting for an original damian release for a very long time

100% pleased

I recently heard damians own remix of this track on Pete Tong, amazing stuff.
