Ada - Adaptations Mixtape #1 cover
RA Review
Let's be honest. When we heard that Ada's next release was going to be a mixtape, I know what your first words were, because they were mine: "Mixtape??? Where's the album ?" After all, it's already been five years since Michaela Dippel's debut album of colorful Cologne techno and warm first-crush s..

Here's hoping Kompakt release it on unmixed vinyl. I've been loving their releases with the bonus cd included.

Please do not destroy this thread by filling it with insulting, degrading, ridiculous posts directed towards the artist, label and other Resident Advisor users similar to the Omar-S/Fabric thread.

It should be clear that I am referring to those individuals that were disgusted with Omar-S because he simply decided to a Fabric mix of only his released and unreleased material.

Attention TheButcher. You can't compare Omar-S Fabric to this Mixtape. Ada has pulled off a killer mix. Not knocking Omar-S but he came up short big time with his Fabric release.

Attention Buckets

Please understand that I was not comparing the mix quality and/or style of Omar-S with Ada.

My purpose of my comment was to highlight the fact that another DJ and/or producer compiling a "mix" with their own personal material should not be negatively looked upon by those people who enjoy electronic music.

Ok, understand what you mean now TheButcher.

It is a risky move to release a mix of your own personal material. It is hard enough to release an album of electronic music! let alone mixing it. I don't see anything wrong with the concept, I just think it is a difficult thing to do.

I would enjoy Omar-S material on his Fabric a lot more if it wasn't mixed. People should buy a mixed CD for the purpose of listening to the skill of effortlessly amalgamating tunes into one to create a story, to take you on a ride of peaks and valleys not just for the individual tracks - whether the tracks are all produced by the origional artist or not.
