One of the best festivals in the world hands down... Initial lineup is looking straight up unreal! However, need to add Theo Parrish and Omar-S to that. Both weren't there last year so I figured they'd get tapped to be in the mix this year.

I <3 RECORDS: http://deliciousrecords.blogspot.com/
looking good!!

• Loco Dice vs. Luciano
• Tiefschwarz
• Wighnomy Bros.
• Onur Ozer

I am very pleased thus far! Can't wait...

Not excited.

Like every festival this type, the question will be slot times for DJs and live PA because there may be conflicting times between two or three good artists.

$35 is a steal for Carl Craig, Saunderson, Beyer, etc. Hopefully, paxahau will finally recognize the UK techno masters such as Surgeon, Ben Sims, James Ruskin, etc. Also on that list would be: Redshape, Steve Rachmad and Deetron. Would love to hear them rock Movement like they do at so MANY festivals all over Europe.

Carl Craig killed it!

I was about to pass out on one of the couches in the VIP area overlooking the main stage due to all day consumption of booze (VIP tix plus what booze I brought with me) when I first heard Wendell Harrison playing the saxaphone.....

I was able to hold off the alcohol induced sleep for another hour

YES! Please bring that jackin', disco-flavored, funk-edged party music!! AKA BEN SIMS!! TECHNASIA!! That style of techno has been sorely missing the last few years. DEMF please represent.

Yessir...I agree...haven't heard that stuff out in ages...would be cool to see some out at the DEMF.
Still, lineup is looking really great. If they're bringing Benga though they should bring a few more dupstep guys to complete a little dubstep showcase?

Ok...move me!
Still, I am not amused.
Give me something to shout about!
WHERE ARE MORE HOMETOWN ACTS!
Oh well...everybody wants overseas acts only. Oh well.
Persons from other countries are coming to DEMF to see what make Detroit tick, not someone that's a neighborhood act in their part of the world.

Oh well...

MORE HOMETOWN ACTS?? What do you consider Derrick May, Craig, Octave One, LOS HERMANOS!, Seoul, T. Linder, Saunderson, Mike Huckaby, Mike Clark??

It doesn't get anymore homegrown than that! Plus all the afterparties are FULL of local talent. Every year the D is represented in full..it's pretty much a given. Remember UR Live at the Main Stage a few years back or Carl Craig last year?

That being said it's also great for talent from the rest of the world to come to the MECCA of techno and show their take on it. That's what makes it so exciting, that's what its all about, imo. Sharing and mixing it all up in Detroit, the perfect place to bring it all together. Most people come to DEMF from within the US not from overseas and us Americans want to see the overseas acts just as much as we do the local talent. If it's good electronic music it should be at DEMF, imho.

With that said, I shall assume that you will never grow tired of hearing Derrick May, Carl Craig, Mike Huckaby, Mike Clark, Jeff Mills, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins...DJing every DEMF weekend.

Los Hermanos is long overdue along with Octave One. Hell, no one even knows that Mark Flash, part of Los Hermanos, has got some serious DJ skills along with Mike Grant, Scott Grooves, Malik Pittman, Brian Bonds from Strand, DJ Skurge, Suburban Knight, DJ Scant and the list can go on and does go on.

To experience the DEMF in FULL as it SHOULD BE.....just hit an afterparty, that is where the heart and soul of the Detroit can and will be found. FYI, alot of people came from overseas to Detroit for DEMF, on a regular basis, during the first few years. Not anymore.

The line up isn't as amazing as in the earlier years(I don't want to see a bunch of crummy eurpoean mnml like Onur Ozur) but this is first time I can afford to make the trip so I'll be repping Ireland, even if on my own. Can't wait to hear what pops up for the after parties, get to witness the real Detroit...but it'll be stoopid if they don't announce Omar or Theo for the festival itself.

Ireland!!!

Come on into tha D and have a blast.

Back in 2005, I met a cool guy from Ireland. He hung out with us Saturday through Monday. It was wild as hell.

You have to visit American Coney Island when you are here. Get a coney dog with the works!!!!

I know right, WTF?? 2 years in a row, seriously? Does anyone actually come to Detroit to hear Benny freakin' Benassi?
I still have my fingers crossed for Technasia, Sims, Surgeon, or Deetron. Or Ruskin. With a primetime slot on Sat or Sunday night.. ;)

they bring idiots like benassi to attract the mainstream electronic crowd, so i can see that, how about to attract us technoheads?? lets throw some REAL stuff into that mix! sleeparchive, modern love guys, sandwell district, where is that stuff?

Sleeparchive would tear it up! Sandwell district will be in NYC on April 3rd at the bunker party. Regis and function..that will be sweet.

Now.....be careful.....if you are going to blast Benny Benassi for playing the festival again, then you must blast them for have the "usual suspects" such as May, Saunderson, Craig, Atkins, Mills, Huckaby and so.....Hell, they get booked every single year, DJ fee paid + DJ an afterparty (ie Derrick May and Hi Tek Soul).

Not likely going to happen. Getting "REAL STUFF" for "technoheads" and Detroit Heads" into a line-up since Pax took over SHOULD NOT be a problem.

However imo, the goal is to have a profitable festival first.......a diverse, enjoyable festival second. Local promoters not likely to take such a risk as well either, especially on DEMF weekend.

Thus, Pax will leave those DJs and musicians, not selected to play for the festival, to be booked for an afterparty that weekend.
