 | RA Review It's clear that the current clutch of Mannheim-based producers are overwhelming obsessed with groove. That doesn't necessarily come at the expense of melody, but riffs are a secondary concern to crafting the most powerful boom-tchk house beat you've ever heard. As a result, whenever a producer comes..

| #8 / Sat, 21 Mar 09 16:07 If this ends up a spring/summer anthem, standards are a bit too low.
Sam identified what's becoming the greatest obstacle stopping me from liking Johnny D: so many of his productions sound like unfinessed mash ups which don't necessarily fit together (see also: "Requiem Of A Dream"). His backing track is so static and standard, he doesn't show much flexibility as a producer. It's one thing to have an uncompromising vision, it's another to just refuse to adapt that vision to the task at hand.

| #22 / Thu, 09 Apr 09 09:49 Yeh vocal is nice. But I too have played it in a club and seen it seem underwhelming. Its nice and mellow but I think belongs on a terrace in the sunshine. Will be massive in Ibiza.

| #24 / Mon, 13 Apr 09 13:29 For all you people who don't like Johnny D's works as well as this EP... it's just because you cant understand this new genre in the tech house. For this purpose read one or more of Johnny's interviews where he explains his conception of the music he makes. So this is the idea in his music... nothing special but a groove that makes you nothing else but dance and party... which is the most important in the electronic music, i think...

| #25 / Tue, 14 Apr 09 05:58 ^ new genre 'in' tech-house? have they named it yet? groove is surely a key to dance floor success, but I won't classify a groove laden track as being an offset of the genre.

or maybe you can't hear how boring these tracks are. plain elevator music. people who fill their ipods with this bullshit house they bought from beatport are stupid virgin catholic girls of dance music. you are all miserable.
