| #1 / Wed, 01 Apr 09 13:58 Now, what a**hole decides to steal a record from someone, particularly an expensive one? Idiot. That aside, I really do like Sven's sound, which I am infatuated with, and I'm one for his DJing style, unlike some people. Get his Meanwhile EPs and his remix for Ramadanman, if you can. That said, I'm surprised to see he looks almost exactly like my old math tutor.

just to name a few are from his generation (Derrick May) that still produce and are quite well-respected.
You are correct.......time for new artists and DJs, especially in Detroit, to take the underground into the next generation.

| #5 / Wed, 01 Apr 09 16:47 Great interview...definitely loved his podcast and DJing style. Was really sad to see so many on the forums slam his style...For me it was perfect. Rough but human and funky.

| #7 / Wed, 01 Apr 09 18:49 People loved Omar S's honesty but I think this is on a another level...
He's got a point on calling out Derrick May for not releasing (or maybe also not making) any new music. I think the same should be said for Richie Hawtin.
Also, if that Aril Brikha story is true that's some fucked up shit.
Lastly, Butcher forgot to mention Delano Smith who's latest EP on Third Ear has been pretty well received to say the least. Age ain't nothing but a number right?

agreed, this interview rubs me the wrong way. not the interview itself , but mainly sven's bits. good music, but not really feeling the vibe he puts out in this interview.

I did not forget Delano Smith. He is new school taking the underground music of Detroit deeper. True age aint nothing but a number. Hell, Shake is doing some serious tracks.....and Robert Hood as well.

That man is on fire right now. His live show at Bloc was the best thing by some way. A truly gifted musician.
As for this interview, guess I should read it... !

| #15 / Thu, 02 Apr 09 02:11 Such refreshing honesty! I reckon Sven's in this game for all the right reasons. His productions are smashing it atm, and his DJing is really something. I do reckon he's better live than in podcast form. He killed it at Freerotation.

I believe if Convextion had complained about using Ableton, this would be spot-on.

Hey there Marzie. It was actually myself that chose the records, thinking that they would be good talking points for Sven and his music. That's the point of the Playing Favourites pieces - the Under The Gun features are the ones where the DJs pick their own favourites.

| #24 / Mon, 06 Apr 09 19:41 What an arrogant jerk! What did he do that was so amazing?? anything timeless? not yet i believe. Some ok-ish records... but i don't think its anything essential yet.
btw. who cares what money he paid for some records??
And this guy will never ever in his life do anything that will be close to what Derrick May did... so why having a problem that he isn't releasing music anymore? be thankfull for the great records he gave us!
