| #16 / Tue, 21 Apr 09 11:20 (Edited: 17 Jun 09 11:05) Why are labels like WOLF+LAMB not recognised before now. Like last year or the year before.
Lee Curtis' releases from a couple of years back, or Nicolas Jaar's were well worthy of recognition back at the start of the label, when 'they were too deep'. And I don't think it's right to label it as just another 'minimal' label back then, because there was so much to the releases. Plenty of funk, roots and interesting directions.
I hope it hasn't taken Shaun Reeves' move to Berlin, a formula style Patience EP and Seth Troxler's photo shoots to finally gain media attention.
Dance music journos should stick their necks out for good labels like this – from the start.

this is true to an extent, but it depends on what your understanding of "about the music" means. as a writer I feel like if you want to know about music you have to go seek out its material conditions - where it's being played, where it came from, why someone thought it was a good idea. you have to trace out the world it belongs to - there's only so far you can go with appreciating it in a vacuum. I felt that there were plenty of extra-musical factors here that could be brought into play to color out the w+l world..

| #22 / Tue, 21 Apr 09 21:11 (Edited: 22 Apr 09 19:14) best review of a label feature yet. really dig the closer info, behind the scene approach to it. the marcy is genius and this label is pushing things in a great direction. was lucky enough to catch Nico Jaar absolutly funk a sunny, outdoor party this past sunday. half of it was almost disco-ish. really sexy house and perfect for the setting. the kid is 19. their stable is growing w/ quality and their sound is not locked down as much as in the past. this is brilliant. they are showing fluidity with the times and is'nt that what the good ones do? thanks for the feature and keep it coming W + L...not so wuss + lame.

Yes, I'm sure Robert Hood would agree with you there.
This is a poor attitude towards dance music.

| #31 / Fri, 24 Apr 09 14:44 who gives a monkey's about what genre is what and what's "in fashion" and not! W+L are turning out some great music at the moment, just as they have for a few years now. Good music is good music, whatever sub genre people try to pidgeon hole it with. they seem to also have a great attitude too...keep up the good work.

| #32 / Fri, 24 Apr 09 15:45 identifying trends is one thing; "pigeonholing" an artist another. good music is good music, but occasionally what's good is also what's very much "now." these are two different quantifying statements!

all I have to respond to that quote is " I Promise I'll Change ". at first these were just witty break up lines, but now it's become our mantra. a response to life with music, ever changing, ever more beautiful.

| #34 / Tue, 28 Apr 09 20:18 One of the most innovative labels today. A consistent, amazing vibe that is nothing less than an undeniable, shining example to the nyc nightlife of what a music event should embody... simply put: pure beauty.
love and support.

| #35 / Mon, 15 Jun 09 06:23 Interesting Article..
I just spent three weeks in NYC figuring out the whole scene and made it to the Marcy Hotel twice. Quite an affair I must say.
I live in SF and frequent Burning Man..I like that the festival was so influential in the way they operate things and has impacted their music taste. Music needs to progress and move forward at Burning Man. one the things it lacks and desperately needs.. at least these guys are doing their part.
Hope everyone can experience the playa as it seems to change lives and perspectives. Love it!
