| #1 / Fri, 31 Jul 09 10:16 Can't wait to listen to this - I've enjoyed all the "headfuck" stuff I've heard, particularly sets by Dozzy and D'or. Nice to see they have a cross-section of labels in the mix - good to see M_nus in there Nice work as ever RA! Now can someone bring Dozzy and D'or to play in the North of England please?

i can't even remember when we started using the expression, but it was not intentional and it was not about trying to define label a new sub-genre. 'headfuck' was basically just meant to be an adjective - to explain and describe a certain kind of techno, and most importantly, the impact the music would have on you when listening. saying that, i think there definitely is a distinctive sound that prologue and the artists around it are developing, and it is something that has different roots/influences and trajectory from some other parts of techno.

I maybe wrong but there is deffo some early 2000's prog sounds in there, slightly more abstract in structure with that minimal bass and beat. great great label.

hmm. i don't think so. i think the influence is where early 00s prog got partly borrowed from - which was the tech-trance of the early to mid 1990s. i've been a prog hater from day 1, but i do have a soft spot for the early tech-trance stuff. also, most of these people have been pursuing their sound for quite a while, so i am not sure whether prog would figure in at all. but the sound definitely does appeal to former and current prog fans because of that trancey dimension.

| #18 / Sun, 02 Aug 09 13:06 Thank you for this Discussion... For me personal the Roots for this Music is coming more from "Soul Techno" (when there is a warm direction) Also some Sähkø & older Plasticman Influences with a minimal Touch are in. Something "endlessness" Hypnotique. The Roots are not that new, but a little bit in an other way "designed"/"composed" . For me this Music is not coming at all(!!!) from Trance or Progressive!!! I call it: just "Deep Techno" with an psychodelic, minimalistic (like Pink Floyd...) Character . And thank you, Prologue & RA! Also big Respect to mnmlssg.blogspot.com/ and all people around!

I can´t catch "easy" Music with words, because Music has it´s own language. If someone get "headfucked" or "touched" or "frustrated" or "glad" or feel like "on Clouds" &&&.. Its just a present of moments, if people are rolling on the same Wave without knowing personal(but also knowing) or talking different Languages. Music can make Friends, because Music is an Emotion & its not easy to put it into a drawer. Music is something, that can be always in progress & its never ending (also if it´s not brand new)
Thankful for Music on the side what words can say.

Next @ Klubnacht | #21 / Sun, 02 Aug 09 16:11 (Edited: 2 Aug 09 17:47) submit button .. nice feature :-) Hello to all :-) First off all thank you sooo much for your support.....and for this label special to ... I didnt expect that so quickly and off course we are all very proud these days and that motivates us enormous... Lets say it was not our intention to produce headfuck techno.... But I must say I like this expression really much... We from Prologue just want to produce cool techno ... At the moment there is to much crap on the market... Have surely something to do with the mass of digital labels. This approach makes label life easy..... In my opinion we basically talking about Techno, Techno with the right amtomspheric deep and dark touch. Music for the underground... Releases which are not thinking just on sales figures. The sound itself isn´t really new in my opinion..... when I remember the early 90´s years or 00... there was headfuck available formerly called Techno... Just take an listen for example.. rob_acid-autostrada on the first BPitch release .. Hola this is fast :-) But cool There was always good techno music however we should call it.... in each decade over the last 20 years and there was always people who support good music.... In my head it was mostly pure Techno... We try to keep this kind of pure techno music in our prologue heads when we thinking on releases. psychodelic, minimalistic, technoistic, progressive.... anyway... It must hit our nervs :-) It must have this kind of spirit what electronic music have... Thansk aggain to all !! Tom btw: interesting thread Hopefully you are good arrived in Berlin Cio :-)

Interesting that this sound can emote different responses from everyones different music histories, really shows the quality of this music. I was playing the dark prog 10 years ago, producers like Austin Leeds, Earth Duley, Sultan, Chris Macali, Deep Funk Project, Pole Folder, Madam...the list goes on, and when i listen to Dozzy and Cio's work i instantly think of the music back then.

indeed. but when it comes down to it, as cio suggests, i think perhaps the strongest influence would perhaps be the early plastikman and mika vaino stuff. it is fucking scary how good that is. it setup so much of the template that producers are now building on.

Spot on, i never used to listen to early plasticman work so its now new to me, the production standards of it are so high to the point where, if you don't know the track, its impossible to to spot the age gap from todays productions, true sign of ageless quality.

Minus Orange happened. An absolute beast of a tune but one of such middle-of-the-road ambition that it proved that Hawtin didn't really have to try very hard to be popular. Even 'Consumed', awesome that it still is, was tracking a perceptible move back towards the straight and narrow from a man who had released some of the freakiest funk ever created. Complacency, in a nutshell. For what he achieved up to and including 'Closer To The Edit' however, Richie's a ledge to me.

hmmm. not sure if you could put it that early. i'd say it came a few years later. while not to the same degree as the plastikman stuff, he was innovating and pushing forward with the first 2 DE9s. but the last couple of years he has really gone off the rails. shame, because that early plastikman stuff is a fucking template. amazing. and i want to point out that unlike richie, mika vanio is still going strong, strong, strong. he never left. and his shit is just as innovative and mindblowing as the plastikman stuff. if anyone hasn't heard the early Ø material, go chase it down. now. quote: Posted by Saatchi enjoyed this weeks sunday sounds set, beautiful mix, is it a live PA or a set? if its a set i really need the name of those tracks.
it is very difficult to tell, but it is a DJ set. i have no idea what the tracks are. if you are super keen, probably best to get in touch with him through myspace.

as i think i said, we definitely didn't start using it intentionally... what i like about it is that it defines the music in reference to a feeling/state, rather than a specific sound structure, which generally fits poorly anyway. but it is a just a descriptor. i wouldnt place too much emphasis on the term.
