| #0 / Tue, 25 Aug 09 19:15 Villalobos: The Movie? We're not quite sure what to make of this one. Apparently there's been a documentary made about Ricardo Villalobos, premiering at this year's Venice Film Festival, featuring footage from Panorama Bar from clubland documentary filmmaker Romuald Karmakar. if form follows content, it should be twelve hours long, use footage gathered on three continents, and all projectors showing it should sashay back and forth non stop for its duration.

It's going to be so badass.

Like it! Film could be good, real danger of it being really arsey as well though.

| #32 / Wed, 26 Aug 09 15:25 it will be good for sure, i don't think villalobos would have agreed to it otherwise. normally he's quite media shy so the fact he signed on for this means he's got faith in the producer/director. anyway, i'm intrigued.

well, Derrick May is the only one of those who's actually a truly GREAT dj, the other 2 are legendary producers but nothing special as djs
Jeff Mills is the one techno dj worth making a documentary about, whether you like his style or his music or not he's the most influential techno dj by a long long way. techno and dance music wouldn't be the same without Jeff Mills
Anything else you'd care to give us all the benefit of your higher knowledge and greater understanding on? The real godfather of soul perhaps? The Pullitzer Prize-winning scientist whose work you understood before anyone else? Why 9 out of 10 cats prefer Whiskas? Proferring at best moot points as statements of indisputable truth is one of those things you may grow out of however.

you are only allowed to do this if after said statement you say "fact"
eg villalobos is not techno. fact!

| Do you have any lyrics particular to you?

'Only allowed to do'... what exactly? Obviously in your race to that 'touche' punchline you decided to forego any semblance of actual sense. Saying an artist doesn't play a particular genre of music hardly equates to subjective opinion does it? It's fairly obvious that Britney Spears isn't jungle and Bono isn't dubstep, for instance. Ergo, Villalobos isn't techno.

Posts / 54 RA Since / Jan 2009 | #38 / Wed, 26 Aug 09 16:24 i was agreeing with your point about moot points being offered as indisputable truths and often they follow these points with "fact!". that's all.
Is he dubstep then?

ouch, cutting sarcasm! why so sensitive? would you like to disagree with what I said? it might be a worthwhile conversation then, or do you prefer to just make snide comments? I was merely stating that if there was really only one techno dj worth doing a documentary about it would have to be Mills, as he was by far the most influential techno dj. And before anyone gets their knickers in a twist again, I know "one techno dj" wasn't meant to be taken literally, but if it was that would be my opinion on who that one should be. do I really need to type IMO after everything I write?

The Pullitzer Prize honours journalism, literature and music, not science, so I can't give you an answer for that one I'm afraid. quote: Posted by marzie Why 9 out of 10 cats prefer Whiskas?
