| #20 / Mon, 21 Sep 09 23:29 first part is indeed deeper yet tension building. and then there's a proper ecstasy moment when she mixes the FBA remix into STL and it REALLY starts rolling from there

 | RA Review If in some far-fetched social scenario someone asks you how house music has changed in the latter half of this decade, dig into your MP3 listening device and play them Cassy's Panorama Bar 01 and Simply Devotion . OK, so in broad terms most of us know that deep house replaced minimal, chords su..

| #28 / Wed, 09 Dec 09 19:36 I'm surprised that our reviewer chose to completely ignore the fact that the Panorama bar mix is on the Ostgut Ton label and this one is for Cocoon. To me, this would explain the difference in sound a lot better than does the fact that the first mix was recorded in 2006.
One of the things I liked about Panoramabar 01 is that it had little to do with what was trendy back in '06. This is also what I like about the O-Ton label; it's a trendsetter, not a follower, if anything. Cocoon , while not being extremely commercial, is not exactly underground either. It's more closely associated with Ibiza partying, than it is with the underground club culture which is the Panorama Bar.
So, Cassy does a good job at crafting her mixes for the labels on which she publishes them, while not losing sight of her own slightly raw mixing style and talent for picking her tracks.

| #29 / Thu, 10 Dec 09 09:39 I like the mix, and I like it's not so abletonized and still sound ruff as it should be. But somehow most of the tracks stuck in a same level of emotion. The final result is good, but actually i hardly listen to the whole mix form the beginning to the end. Last track is my favorite - very bitchy one I think the reviewer is fair in his rating!

| #30 / Thu, 10 Dec 09 10:42 love the mix and as flamman said, it was clearly 'tailored' for cocoon. falcon's whateva is my favourite, too! great cassy

| #31 / Thu, 10 Dec 09 14:02 I don't agree there necessarily. I think the disc is quite an accurate representation of what Cassy has been playing this year (in Panorama Bar or otherwise) and to think that t she, or the label, would attempt to water down her sound for a mass market seems a little far fetched. She is on the Cocoon roster after all, so I'm not sure a restrained or populist representation of one of their key artists would be doing either of them any favours. Or am I being naive?

| #32 / Thu, 10 Dec 09 16:06 (Edited: 12 Dec 09 10:02) Maybe my view is a little cynical, eh? I'm not condemning the fact that dj's tailor their style (a little) to the party/label they're playing for, and I'm quite sure that a dj will do so. It's part of your job as a dj isn't it, to conform what you play to your crowd? If you're playing a crazy Ibiza party, you'll want to play the right tunes. And this crowd is likely to be a little more 'overground' than your Panorama one, so you'd play some more bouncy- instead of dark stuff. As a dj, I like to do both, but what I like most of all in the end of the day is to play music that I like AND to make my audience happy. And I think that that's exactly what Cassy does here in good form! I doubt that Cocoon restrain or popularise (?) their artists; I think that the artists will be likely to do so on their own accord. BTW: the comment on the Ralph Falcon track is very much on the ball; it's odd to have it come in at that point, when it felt like the end, and then it leaves you expecting more; a whole new session actually. Not that I'd mind Tracks 7-9; wow!

| #44 / Fri, 09 Jul 10 14:14 For me, a huge fan of her previous mix, this was a dissappointment. The first mix was an emotional mix in various styles: minimal techno, Ricardo Villalobos' Sieso, dub techno and deep house, but nevertheless it felt like a whole and took you away. This mix is much more in the same "oldskool" style, and wasn't as soulful as the first. The track's don't standout as much too, but maybe that's only my opinion, cause I think the oldskool thing is overrated.
