| #3 / Wed, 30 Sep 09 22:27 great label! i remember when i first heard a track on Deep Explorer (it was Above Smoke's "Sweet Love" the Scott Ferguson remix), I immediately went and looked up the rest of their catalog. I liked their releases so much, I ended up purchasing about half the catalog. quality stuff.

Not to be a dickhead unnecessarily but Colombus was Italian and Magellan was Portugese!

Thanks for the heads-up, Ronan. Was quite aware of that. I could have picked some other famed (and truly Spanish) explorers, but most of them had pretty nasty backstories that I wanted to avoid referencing. (Not that Columbus and Magellan were saints or anything...) In any case, I'd like to point out that Columbus had to go to the Spanish crown to get the finances to explore, as did Magellan. And Ferdinand - according to Wikipiedia at least - even "subsequently obtained Spanish nationality in order to serve the Spanish Crown." So...you know...the Spanish were pretty much responsible for allowing them the chance to explore. Which, to my mind, serves as a neat and tidy stereotype to use as a rhetorical crutch for a piece.
