On the 31st December 2009, Ministry of Sound and AEG Live will host a live music event at the world famous O2 arena in London to celebrate New Years Eve 2009, a show that is set to be one of the biggest New Year’s Eve parties to take place in Europe.

Already booked for this exclusive event is the UK’s current pop obsession Calvin Harris who will be joined by the most original and unique dance music act of the moment Deadmau5, chart topping DJ heroes Eric Prydz and Dave Spoon, and one of the newest kids on the pop block Example. More artists will be announced soon.

Ministry of Sound Live 09 will offer revellers all night entertainment with nine hours of music accompanying spectacular visuals especially created for the event. A unique production policy will transform the arena via multiple stages, breathtaking lighting, pyrotechnic displays and an aerial walkway that will see artists and entertainers performing along an LED lit stage high above the crowd.

Massive LED curtains will also feature the largest number of LED batons ever used by any act to offer a truly unique visual sensation.

The DJ stage will offer a 360 degree experience for the artists and the event goers, acting as the main body of a massive eight legged lighting rig that will move and expand as the night draws closer to midnight.

For the midnight moment a bespoke pyrotechnic display will be unveiled programmed to Calvin Harris’s set offering the audience an unforgettable experience as they see in 2010.

Two of the most powerful forces in music entertainment coming together for one night only to present a never seen before live music event that will combine a selection of the UK’s most successful artists with imaginative and theatrical DJ sets.

Tickets are available from the 2nd October with an option of seated and standing priced respectively at £50 and £75 plus standard booking fee. Limited VIP tickets are also available.

Hi Deadmau5, how are you today?

I'm in Bournemouth, its raining but I am looking forward to my show at the Opera House then a crazy weekend at ADE and I Love Techno

How would you describe your 2009? What have been the highlights for you?

There have been many highlights of 2009, from last weeks show at roundhouse in London, to Glastonbury, Creamfields, Essential Mix Live in Ibiza was crazy, there are so many to name, its been a bonkers year! I would like to thank everybody that has come and seen me perform and all the support from all of my fans that I lok forwrad to seeing in NYE

Have you had the time to develop any more gadgets and gizmos for your production and performances this year?

We are hoping to have a new stage show for next year wrapped up pretty soon. Also the new LED head is still in production and we hope to have it ready for the road soon! I can't say to much more about it!

Are you looking forward to NYE and the O2 Arena?

I think this could go down as one of the most stupidest question ever!! OF COURSE I AM!!!!

Who else are you looking forward to checking on the lineup?

My good friend Calvin Harris and of course the rest of the big line up!

If you could pick one track to play at midnight that summed up the whole of 2009 for you, what would it be and why?

I think it would have to be I Remember because of the lyric but also because its become such a big record, it has done so much for me in 2009 in the UK

Following on from that – what are your top five tracks of the year?

Due to me not being a DJ and playing live my own music I really can't answer this question unless I put all my own records but that would look crap

Finally, what five items would you need to make your New Years Eve go out with a bang?

Corona, Champagne, some cool Pyrotechnics, Good Friends and of course some chimes!!!

Deadmau5 is definately the most original and unique artist the electronic scene has ever seen.

Such variance of sound and not a gimmick to be seen.

Clearly no one at MoS has been watching the news for the last 18 months.

I just want to ask any officials from MoS:

£75 <- are you having a f*cking stephi graff? I could get flights to Berlin + accom. for that.

I will be next door at Matter for less than half the price.

£75 seems a bargain for me for such a sterling line up that includes the most original and unique act at the moment!

seated! great, i can take my gran, she won't want to stand up all night.

When i first saw that £75 I thought they were smoking something quite strong and i wanted a piece! but the more i think about it, in comparison to say matters 40 quid charge it seems about right for what you are getting. It cant be cheap putting on this night, at a venue like that, think about how much it probably costs to hire out the arena for this night! Plus you've pretty much got the all the a list of the dance music scene (good or not) playing. It makes paying 40 quid to see the likes of sven and cassy a right rip off!

I'll probably go cos it seems like it'll be the most unique event on that night. Can go matter any night, don't get many chances to have a rave up in the actual O2 arena!

They should knock a few quid off the ticket prices tho, and who would want to be seated at an event like this?!

onefoursevenone's gran.... They still pay the staff the same rates so the venue are the only ones taking the dollar, and the DJs of course charging horrendous fees because it's NYE.

I heard the acoustics in the place aren't that well tuned and surely will be pretty dull being seated in the cold till 7am or whatever.

How would you describe your 2009?
The year has all come together well with our Global Underground mix getting big support, and our successful first time touring of the USA and Canada and launching our own label.

What have been the highlights for you?
Performing at Coachella festival in Palm Springs, Womb in Tokyo, Matter and Fabric and launching our own label

What has been the strangest thing to happen to you on tour this year?
We have survived which is always a massive surprise for us!

Are you looking forward to NYE and the O2 Arena?
Gonna be great to be a part of such a huge event at the end of such a troublesome decade, it’s time to let go and have a party like no other. The atmosphere at the o2 is gonna be amazing with so many people and such a massive line up.

Who else are you looking forward to checking on the lineup?
Dave Spoon and Deadmau5 who we have both just had the pleasure of remixing.

What’s been the best New Years Eve experience you’ve ever had?
Probably when i was 3 years old ..my nan gave me my first ever chocolate bar to eat. She was bored staying in looking after me on NYE, the experience changed my world forever. I will never forget it. It was a Wispa is my memory serves me correctly, or it could have been a Curly Wurly, they where both much bigger then than they are now.
