RA Feature
A self-described gear geek, we catch up with the Chilean-born producer to talk shop upon the release of her new album for Wagon Repair.

great feature! i wish father x-mas will put a pair of Meyer HD in my socks :-)

seriously though, i liked anemik although its kind a reminded me of Thé Au Harem D'Archimède, I suppose she would say that villalobos is a big influence.

Think this has been the most accessible Machine Love feature so far.. for someone like myself at least who has no knowledge of production. Very interesting and enjoyable read.

the best!

Respect to her! She is very...human.

"Of course, you need to survive if you're relying on it to eat, or feed your family, but I think if you really like music you have to think about that: the love of music and stay true to why you are doing this. I can totally understand that people are doing this for the fame, to have money and travel the world —it's fun, you know. I don't respect that, but I can see why. If this is the case you should approach production in a different way. You can have a producer, you can use sample loops that you buy from the internet and make the record in half-an-hour. But if you're a musician, or if you really love music and you are interested in experimenting, and it's your life, then you have to stay true to yourself and do what comes out from your heart."

A beautiful sentiment.

Much Respect to Dinky and RA! I remember discovering her early ambient stuff a few years ago... it's amazing how her sound has progressed!

Don't sleep on her dj'ing skills either.....

Great piece!

Point of clarification: I believe you misprinted the album name as "Wagon Repair" (that's the Canadian label, right?) in title of the piece - the title is "Anemik," right?

Amen sister. I love what she says at the end. Something that we should all constantly remind ourselves as artists.

Fucking brilliant interview. Dinky's my favourite DJ at the moment by a country mile.

Was fascinating to get some insight into the way she works. I even like the way she casually mentions other artists as friends. Had no idea she and Mathew Styles were an item. Dinky Styles, nice ring to it.

...still rock 'horizontal'.
dammit i love these features. thank you Dinky & RA.
