Darkstar - Aidy's Girl Is A Computer cover
RA Review
It goes without saying that a great deal of Hyperdub's near-ubiquitous success over the past five years can be accredited to Kode9's distinct ear for a great auteur. So much so, in fact, that most attempts to pin down the label's signature aesthetic end up collapsing under a wave of mystifying post-..

If you like this tune or not. It totally stands out. i think tunes which have so much personality and sound so on their own should get a 5, cause we need more of those and artist should be encouraged to go their own way. And if some dubtechno which is copy of copy of a copy gets higher rate than this unique piece its like a message that it doesnt pays off to be original ;-)

The original is absolutely brilliant and genre-defying in my book. One track amongst the excellent 5 years of Hyperdub compilation that I keep going back to. Something tells me it's the remix on the flip that held this back from getting higher than a 4/5. Real shame too because I think more people need to hear the original to understand what people are on about.

This is great, not necessarily so innovative, but definitely a master stroke in a quickly evolving sound. Instra::mental and Zomby got it started and now Darkstar's putting the pieces together. Great stuff.

Yeah, I found the Kyle Hall mix a little boring personally. Not really up the the standard of his other tracks. Full marks to the original though!

Lets forget about the Remix, the Original is a five if there is one five this year. ;-)

Agreed. Both tracks are pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good.

Dull, like a cupcake - a nice and tidy garage sponge, topped off with a vanilla cream of homogenous swirling synths. The cherry has to be the 'timeless' Daft Punk vocal. Stand out tune my a*se.

real nice tune, very emotional, that demonstrates slow music dont need to be boring, like the 90% of minimal music

The Cover, the name of the Band and the Songtitle is 5 points on its own, not to mention this sweet sugarpop music. Great !

Great release. Especially the kyle remix, good club track, but also a good listener!

Usually nitpicking over whether some music reviewer gives a song a 4 or a 5 seems a little silly, but in this case I agree with the overwhelming consensus here. Easily song of the year, and probably one of the best tracks to emerge so far from the dubstep scene in general.

The guy who compared it to Daft Punk - LOL

OK given the general comments here I should probably try to justify the review a little better...

First off, 4 is a great score that is hardly going to detract from its success. But since the original has been on rotation a while AND came out very recently on the Hyperdub compilation (where it has already been recognised in the RA review as the highlight) I don't think the remix adds much new to the package as a whole, especially when there is apparantly an alternate version of the original and other album tracks in existence that could have added even more value!

Don't get me wrong - both tracks are excellent and the original certainly deserves to rank very highly in the end of year lists. Hopefully their album and/or live show will earn them an elusive RA 5...
