| #3 / Tue, 17 Nov 09 14:53 this looks like a really nice compilation and i definitely want to hear it!
however, it makes me question whether Rush Hour has any identity of their own - after just releasing the Balihu label comp, they do another label comp like this. well, i guess i shouldn't be complaining that they providing a new platform for good underexposed music.

Rush Hour are still releasing plenty of original material. Both the Wang and Shakir compilations have come due to the fact that neither producer would have done it themselves. The high prices of the Frictional Recordings singles is something that has irked me slightly, leading to plenty of Discogs wantlist action and not much in the way of purchasing, and I'm glad that myself and a lot of others will now be given the opportunity to grab these excellent tracks on wax. Nice one Rush Hour!

| #7 / Tue, 17 Nov 09 18:32 "Madmen" was certainly a ground breaker at the time of release. Drum and bass style drum programming on a techno electro track was just sick. Unfortunately (or fortunately) that release had some other seriously strong tracks on it as well that would make it hard to determine which to re-release here.
Rush Hour definitely has its own identity, they've been pushing dope techno and house from newer artists consistently the last few years: Conforce, Rondenion, Ibex, Art Bleek, Nebraska.... These label/artist re-releases should be looked on as retrospectives of outstanding music that deserves to be heard again and purchased at a reasonable price once more. I have to commend the label for consistently exposing both new and old music. Good music deserves to be heard rather than hoarded by a few. And I can't think of a nicer guy to get some further exposure and hopefully see some $ from it.

| #8 / Tue, 17 Nov 09 19:24 Rush Hour has always been about putting out quality and diverse material (They also distribute Delsin and Kindred Spirits). That's what I love about them.

| #10 / Tue, 24 Nov 09 15:31 What more can be said, Shake is the man, personally I can't wait to snap up both versions. Even though I have the majority of these releases on wax already. The new tracks as well has having a version to listen to on the go are just far to tempting to miss! I can't wait to hear more material from this underrated master of not just techno, but sound. Respect!

but this collection goes above and beyond any notions i had of his productions. altogether, the dopest collection of tunes i've heard in the past year.

 | RA Review Over three discs, Rush Hour's Frictionalism (1994-2009) compiles the work of Detroit techno underdog Anthony "Shake" Shakir, work which predominantly appeared (in extremely limited runs) on his own Frictional label. Although he is not typically listed among his city's first and second wave luminar..

| #13 / Fri, 05 Mar 10 10:02 True depth in the artform from one of Detroit's finest and a top shelf release from Rush Hour. As others have noted, you could make still another sublime comp/album or two out of the tracks that didn't make the cut for this one. Thanks Shake for your consistently wonderful, timeless music.

| #20 / Fri, 05 Mar 10 17:14 i am a HUGE fan of Shake's. i did the interview with him here on RA, and i've been cool with the man for a hot minute. it's funny, but as much as i thought i loved Shake's music, i actually didn't know the half of it. since i usually listen to only an EP at a time, while i knew in my mind that Shake was the man it was never as apparent just HOW AWESOME he is until i sat down and listened to the 3xCD version of this. i don't think anyone in techno music could make a compilation of this scope and have it be anywhere near as engaging, with the possible exception of Carl Craig. Shake is a master of hiphop, electro, techno, and house music.

| #33 / Mon, 08 Mar 10 09:32 A truly excellent release. It's a massive task to get through this in one sitting due to the time it takes, but you always wonder what the next track is going to be like. It will take several listens to take in this massive collection. It's well put together, with each track getting better and better as each CD progresses. My fav would be 'The Floor filler' on CD1 as it will do exactly what's on the tin when dropped!
