 | RA Review Musical polymath Kieran Hebden has been able to keep a foot in a large variety of scenes over the years, seemingly as at ease sitting down with post rock heads as he is conversing in the improvisational jazz world. Electronically speaking, his productions as Four Tet have leaned toward the listening..

yeah i didnt really get that portion of the review either. saw the man himself toss this in his live set at a notoriously hipster non-dancey venue with a heavy hipster crowd and had the entirety of the floor grooving...doesnt normally happen. love this record.

He has a couple of wonderful releases this year, and this is definitely one of them.

| #13 / Tue, 24 Nov 09 15:24 'but they're half of what give the tune such a personality, and what will probably make it impossible to hear on many dance floors.'
What the hell!!!??? It's so weird to put it this way... It makes you think there's something wrong with the track. But hey, actually there's something really wrong with the dancefloors, so reactive to slightly different sound colors/structures.
'Clearly the new dance floor-centric Four Tet has not been replaced by the old Four Tet quite yet.'
Thank god!! Four tet is one of the few producers willing to put something fresh on the dancefloors.
It makes me sad that dance music djs and clubs are so conservative... where's the courage, where's the risk, where's the surprise?? Where's the music!?!?? But if eletronic music reviewers are also thinking this way about dancefloor, we're lost... next are the producers.
The scene doesn't need something that works. Cause in a while it won't work anymore... if it still does. The scene need something to defy our ears, new propositions, sonnically and ambientally, on the experience level. Otherwise it's too flat, normal, regular, and that doesn't make me want to go to a club or buy records.
What the hell!!!! We need more Four Tets!! Come on! It's everything backwards.
We should say: >

| #14 / Tue, 24 Nov 09 22:27 A side is quite good. B side is very lazy and indulgent even for Kieran.
