Siopis - Really Love Ya cover
RA Review
Siopis' newest 12-inch for venerable hit machine Get Physical reaches for the stars and settles for the sky. The lead tune, "Really Love Ya" undoubtedly works—comments on Soundcloud confirm that James Zabiela dropped it as a closer before John Digweed at Warehouse Project late last year, and that it..

Woah, that's a brutal review...I have to dissagree, most strongly - I've had fantastic results playing this in a whole heap of contexts, and I think Get Physicals' adoption of that the grittier Siopsis sound is a great move away from over-processed sterility of so many 'nu-house' or 'minimal' labels - IMO a very original sound, and a wonderful hybrid of influences.

There's no doubt, Jamie Jones' 'Summertime' is smokin' hot, but there's something altogether darker and more lo-fi about Really Love Ya, which I find very compelling, utterly charming, and almost 'hand-made' in a classic sense. Jones's "Summertime" is obviously channeling Prince, and does so very well, but Siopsis' vocal work has a sense of urgency and scratchiness that Summertime doesnt seek to channel. It's not a slick track, but IMO it's a helluva jack-joint, well loved up and sweaty..

Still, great to hear an honest review..thanks for the words...

Maybe RA opinion/taste/integrity > world travelled and experienced DJs. Has been made clear with past reviews, as they often go against DJs, minus the rebel reasoning.

If this is dance music, do reviewers test out the music in its intended context? Would Salvador Dali have asked anyone to look at his paintings upside down? Maybe he would have, but would any artist want someone to look at their work without fully reasoning context, if they were reviewing it? So how does RA expect anyone to respect a review that does not fully account or abstract the context for the reader? Yet still holds the music to some high standard. And then there are plenty of reviews to look back at, that if you equally took away the dancefloor context and looked at it as just listening music, how many would have maintained 4's and 4 1/2s? At the end of the day, reviews at RA and elsewhere are made with a subjective bias where goal posts are moved often. They should be taken as entertaining opinion at best.

By the way, 'Really Love Ya' is a nice track, and I get why DJs like it. Even for listening value its good music, something that could be enjoyed with a breezy in a backroom somewhere, the vocal is better than what is described. This is probably one of Get Physical's better releases as of late.

I quite like the Tolfrey & Inxec remix. 2/5 seems a little harsh.

Dan Hartner? More like Wayne Kerr. There is no way this release deserves 2/5 - Under The Bed is frickin' awesome. Curious peeps can check out all the tracks in GPM's December 09/Jan 10 podcast and make up their own mind.

"Really Love Ya" would be more suitable in a Head Kandi Compilation.
Comercial and predictable house-tune, with horrible vocals and very unimaginative breaks.
Boring...
Don`t see any problem with this review.

How do you suggest they achieve this? Go to a club and wait patiently until the track they're reviewing gets played?

Would be a step in the right direction, imo. Play the tune loud to friends after a few drinks, at least. Without context, I' not sure that such a hyper-critical review of a club-specific release can really hold water. Especially with such speculation about perceived reception....

the vocals and the arrangement flirt with commercialism, though I believe is the reason for such a low rating.

Though it would not be off on a head kandi compilation, I heard it few times outside, and I have to say the tune aint bad at all - and the hook is pretty solid. Maybe I got sucked up :)

This track is sick and has everything it needs to work not only in a compilation
like JZ's latest Master Series but also on the dancefloor. This is a solid track. The review is bullshit.

Again RA reviewers prove they have no idea what they are on about. 2/5 is no where near.

RA credibility minus 10 points

totally agree; that RA person has no idea
c'mon; this is a "really" great track;
below 2.5 means worse than average ???/? no way
a friend played this back in the day for the first time at a party, everyone loved it whether a house head or not; which I believe makes it a great track being liked by individuals with different tastes

I was there when JZ dropped it pre-Digweed at the WHP (Dec 2009), and it was an immense moment!

I rate the reviewer 2 but out of 10 rather than 5, however, it is only an opinion...oh yeah, steve lawler featured this on his ketama deep mix, now there's someone I really rate!!
