Good work metro area at number 02 but no 01 is questionable, not a great poll really. Pointless exercise.

Sasha - AirDrawnDaggar. One of the best start to finish journeys ever made.
This list is a decent example of the amount of great electronic music that came out in the 2000s.

49. Deepchord Presents Echospace - The Coldest Season [echospace [detroit], 2007]
How the hell did that fall out so low? For me top 3 for sure... Too bad!

Yeah, would have been nice to see that one up in the top ten, but I'm sure the nu-dub techno haters will be aggrieved it's even in there in the first place. On the topic whether these kinds of charts are worth their salt, I'd say they are (even if consensus is impossible) simply because they expose great music to fresh ears. How many of RA's readers will know about William Basinski, or Alva Noto, or Vladislav Delay, or Fennesz, or even Rhythm & Sound for that matter? Not all of them, that's for sure. Yes, the list gets more and more predictable as it goes on, and seeing the likes of Drexciya and Monolake ranked so low is certainly grating, but then, look where Convextion came - 17th! Pretty special no, considering what a low profile he keeps? And what's the harm in a few more people discovering one of the great techno producers of our day? (My main gripe is that Burial's debut ranked lower than Untrue - sorry, but that's simply not on!)

| #28 / Mon, 25 Jan 10 17:47 Interesting list. Not sure how necessary it was but it made for a good read, and in some cases, reminder of some highlights of the decade. Definitely don't agree on some of the standings though...... and am wondering where is DJ Shadow's "The Private Press"?

| #32 / Mon, 25 Jan 10 18:32 The 2009 best of list doesn't quite sync with the best of decade list. As someone previously pointed out, DJ Sprinkles got top billing in 2009 - Fever Ray # 2. In this list, Fever Ray ranks higher (24 vs 30) ?!? How does that work?

| #33 / Mon, 25 Jan 10 18:36 i've always preferred a cluster approach to best album lists (even on RA we have artists working in vastly different idioms) so these numbers are a little irrelevant, but the list has more or less the essentials of the decade. good show.

| #34 / Mon, 25 Jan 10 18:42 I dont know how people can 'see no value' in any list which tunes you in to potentially very good music you have not heard before. Or have you given repeat listens to all one hundred albums listed in this article and already made up your own mind?

The Coldest Season should have been in the top 10, in the top 5 as far as I'm concerned, right next to Burial & Rhythm & Sound. Didn't this album come out on Modern Love?

| #36 / Mon, 25 Jan 10 18:54 Its not entirely electronic but why isn't Thom Yorke's "The Eraser" listed here? This album is genius, an innovative hybrid of so many types of music. I think an album like this one will go on to influence music for the next 20 years.

And for the people who are againt the lists: I love the lists. This is for me a way to explore new music/artists!

I mean it's not my top 10, not even my top 100, but I was surprised by some of the omissions. Glad Alcachofa is at the top. Oh, and Justice? GTFO.

| #47 / Mon, 25 Jan 10 22:51 (Edited: 26 Jan 10 22:14) ooo, can't wait to explore this list of albums! a bunch of these were not on my radar. however, a lot of what i like is on your list. some of them are: Vespertine..listened to this cd so much it's busted...Metro Area, can't get enough of them...Ricardo Villalobos-Thé Au Harem d'Archimède still sends shivers up my spine...The Knife-Silent Shout, was a convert after hearing Marble House...The Junior Boys, fell in love with them while listening to Last Exit (wait, why is Last Exit not on your list?!)....Fennesz, yes it's very bewitching indeed as you said...and how can i forget Recloose, Cardiology is the jams, and i never get bored of it. that's my two-cents to yours.
