Loads of blinders in there but the Villalobos obsession is getting a bit too much now

The "obsession" of placing just one of the four mix CDs he released in the past decade at no. 8?

| #7 / Wed, 27 Jan 10 11:06 It's a also a good list, but in my opinion: Tom Middleton's The Sound Of The Cosmos should have been in top 10. I would have put Burrdige's Nu Breed in instead of 24:7 and Taka Taka from Ricardo instead of Fabric. I miss Fred Deakin's Nu Balearica, some disco mixes (Idjut Boys, Unabombers), Prins Thomas' Cosmo Galatic Prism, Armand Van Helden'S Odyssey, Superpitcher's Today, Francois Kevorkian's Essential mix, Books Shade's and Daddy G's Dj Kicks, Sasha & Diweed's Communicate, Fabriclive01 from James LAvelle, Another Late Night from Groove Armada. And I really don't understand what are doing Magda and Dixon in top 10 But That's just me...

| #10 / Wed, 27 Jan 10 11:45 i suppose everyone has an opinion and thats what makes music so great, a good conversation point at any table. Never mind Another late night as good as it is. What about Groove Armada After dark , Andy Smith the document 2. unabombers aswell nowhere to be seen. booka shade and im sure if i gave it another little think id come up with loads. I have to say for me the best mix of the last decade has to be Dixon Body Language outstanding mix, track selection is unreal its an emotional rollercoaster made me fall inlove with music all over again. Oh yeah Strange Games by Kenny Dope and the dj spinna one and what about the buzzin fly collection most of them would be worthy of a spot and lazy dog. dont think ye sat down for long enough for this one. And how 2 many djs is there i dont know it does my head in thats just my opinion

| #13 / Wed, 27 Jan 10 12:11 Good list. A lot I haven't heard. Keen to check out the Dan Bell, in particular.
My Top 3:
Superpitcher "Today" Wighnomy Brothers "Metawuff..." Magda "She's a Dancing Machine".
Good choice for number 1 IMO as well.

| #16 / Wed, 27 Jan 10 12:32 Not a single Solid Steel mix? What's going on? If you're giving (well deserved) credit to Soulwax for what they did, I think Ninja Tune deserves more than a mention.. even if they aren't as trendy.
Excellent stuff though. Good call on David Holmes. One personal addition would be Underworld - Back to Mine.

The "obsession" of placing just one of the four mix CDs he released in the past decade at no. 8? #1 DJ #1 Artist Album of the last 10 years Top 10 placing for a really poor mix cd etc obviously its all subjective but seems to be some serious bumming going on for a couple of albums that werent actually really that great.

| #23 / Wed, 27 Jan 10 13:28 Greg Wilson and Theo for sure, add Moodymann to the list as well! What about Derrick Carter?
Some good mixes in there for sure but also allot of obvious omissions. Not heard allot of the mixes mentioned to be honest and will be on the hunt to see what is special about them.
Personally I think the west coast sound at the turn of the centaury should have a mention as lots of good stuff and mixes that were about at the time. Also was integral period for deep house on the soundscaping of the modern sound IMO. Yousef for example for me was one of the best DJ's on the planet circa 2001 - 2002.
Of course this is like the top DJ’s poll, all very subjective to someone’s personal preferences.

| #29 / Wed, 27 Jan 10 14:31 DE-9 Closer to the Edit should be at the top of the list. It's the only mix on there that instantly made a niche genre into an industry. Can't think of any other mix CD having such a huge influence. I know it's a matter of taste but I can't honestly see how Magda's mix is up so much higher. While good it's based on all the concepts pioneered in closer to the edit. I know which one I will remember in ten years.

| #35 / Wed, 27 Jan 10 16:23 Nice to see Diggers GU L.A in there, one of my personal faves, still sounds amazing.
Lawlers NUbreed..... again, great to hear it, released in the midst of the Tribal frenzy, great stuff.
I liked Danny Howels 24:7 more than Buridges, still both good tho.
Magda so high up? just sounded like a mess to me.
Villilobos deserves to be higher
Supprised not to see any Renaissance up there, Deepdish in Ibiza deserves a shout.

| #42 / Wed, 27 Jan 10 17:10 marcus intalex - fabriclive 35 should definitely be there. i think it opened up a lot of people's ears to the diversity of drum and bass as well as being stunningly well selected mixed and paced. i know ra doesn't focus that much on d n b but to miss out that mix is ridiculous.

| #43 / Wed, 27 Jan 10 17:19 Nobody will ever agree entirely with a list like this but I guess that's the point of publishing them - to spark interest & debate.
For my money, I found Tom Middleton's mix a let-down after high expectations. The chillout mix was enjoyable if polite, the alternative mix was good in parts, unexceptional in others, whilst the house mix I found, on the whole, offensively insipid.
I'd certainly have placed Henrik Schwarz's DJ Kicks in my Top 50, as well as Derrick Carter's 'Choice' CD which was magical! Also one from the legend, Doc Martin, is a must - whether his fabric CD for the best intro to a house mix I have heard, or 'Sounds You Can Feel' for just being great track after great track, of all different styles, I'm not sure. Maybe both for me personally! Possibly FK's Masterpiece, 2 discs of which do live up to the billing (not the electro house effort though). I'd also include Modeselektor's Boogybytes.
Certainly agree with the inclusion of DJ Deep's 'City To City' - a fine mix! Also big love for Alex Nut's Rinse mix, Dixon's Body Language and Craig Richards fabric.

I would also add older Desyn Masiello's Balance 008 and newer Sasha Funke's Watergate 02, but seeing Efdemin, Holden and Dixon out there makes me happy enough.
Involver is an album, mixed but an album. Involver 2 is a mix cd.
