most anticipated release this year, his mix cds are always nice (not only Immer 1 & 2, also Fabric etc...) and the tracklist looks excellent. CAN'T WAIT :)

that smith n hack tune was destined for an immer mix from the beginning. channels the pure goth pop tech of the original mix. smug about my prediction coming true.

looking forward to hearing ewan's ambient mix of cortney tidwell-his original rmx of her is one of his best by my account.

I'm soooooooooo bored of house and techno people obsessing about people's abiltiy to mix smoothly. It's not maths, it's music. unless it's appallingly off-beat it's fine to my ears. Choons are the main thing. It's like in the 70s when all the bores used to band on about who was the best guitarist, Clapton or some other knob. And then punk came along and showed technical ability was peripheral. It's not even ability.

listening to it now for the 3rd time already in a row, and i can confirm it's AT LEAST as good as the previous mix-cd's from mr. mayer. maybe even better, but that, time will tell.

only very few of my longtime "hero's" still stand today, but he's defo one of them. *bows deeply*

Just got a promo, and am much impressed. Considerably better than Immer 2 on first impressions.

Only criticism is that Massive Attack remix. It just doesn't do it for me and breaks up the mix just as things are getting going with the great Raudive - Slave.

But all else is excellent.

funny how opinions can differ and that you just name those two tracks :)
for me that slave track is the only negative point i can think of on this mix - just heard that sample already way too many times i guess.
the massive attack rmx on the other hand is one i didn't check when i saw it popping up on release lists - didn't like their latest album and not a big fan of boratto's sound to be honnest. but now i heard it i immediately ordered it, for me it's the standout track of this mix :)

All I All, I think it's pretty good. I agree the Massive Attack tune was probably the wrong move at that point in the mix

Can anyone help me with a track ID?
He plays it a lot - did so at both Fabric and his 8 hour set in Southwark in amrch
Bells, fast - chuggin

Last track he played at Fabric on Sat night

Really looking forward to hearing this. I wish someone in the north of England would book him so I can see him play again. Kompakt get very little love in the UK at the moment outside of London.

Surely you don't mean 'Two Of Us'?

This remix is featured only in the CD version of the comp, due to licensing restrictions from Massive Attack's label. :(

RA Review
There's an argument to be made that, in 2010, the world doesn't need DJs like Michael Mayer. The man takes pride in the fact that he does little mixing. He picks tracks for his mix CDs that were released months—or even years—ago. And he rarely surprises all that much either. When you pic..

Awesome.

And Tim Paris - Edges of Corrosion is a highlight - hard to believe its 5 years old.

What a pointless point you make here? The FACT is Mayer is a fantastic programer and his IMMER 1 and 2 mixes are essential for the ones who know....

Have to agree with Fader here

I think the Massive attack track is one of 4 standouts. The other three being

Tim Paris - Edges of Corrosion
Charlotte Gainsbourg - The Operation (Superpitcher Remix)
Culoe de Song - The Bright Forest

The Raudive track is filler and boring and really does nothing for this mix. The track just plods along and then pops in a little house Pi An No and plods along again, oh wait then it pops in some annoying housey type vocals and gets back to plodding along until it finally throws in more cheesy house Pi and No and cheesy house vocals at the same time. After that rather uninspring moment, it once again resumes its journeyless plodding until it hits the wonderful beats from the Masssive attack track. It is here the Mix gets back on Track.

agree with todd completely, the time spent track on track selection still trumps any phony, slight of hand mixing, efx, etc. and it's not like the guy has any difficulty mixing. full support for this and mayer, keeping things simple with good taste.

Bought the CD friday,
Read the review a half an hour ago,
Installed myself in my sunny garden ten minutes ago,
Pushed gently on the Play button four minutes ago,
Enjoining the music now,
Will read the forum.

Thanks for the review... ;)

He's absolutely great at mixing, he just chooses to mix in a simple manner. When on form his mixes are flawless. But I agree it's more about his programming and his ability to flit from genre to genre or style to style whilst maintaining a perfect flow.

5 for me not best than the first one, but amazing

I still love Immer 1, but after Immer 2, iwas dissapointed, but Immer 3 is fantastic...
to all music lovers out there

That's right, the people don't come because you grandiose motherfuckers don't play shit that they like. If you played the shit that they like, then people would come, simple as that.
