The Prodigy, who're infamous for their controversial bitch-smacking-up lyrics are at it again as they have slated the new album for a September release. ‘Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned’, is their brand new album which is a trashy, adrenalised, dirty masterpiece of electic music.

The album features some awesome vocal treatment. Names including Juliette Lewis (‘Hot Ride), Princess Superstar (‘Memphis Bells’), Ping Pong Bitches (‘Girls’), Twista (‘Get Up Get Off’), Shahin Badar ( ‘Get Up Get Off’), Kool Keith ( ‘Wake Up Call’, ‘You’ll Be Under My Wheels’), Liam Gallagher (‘Shoot Down’) and Paul Jackson (‘Action Radar’) all provided vocals that have been twisted, abused and treated more like samples turning the final production into something more custom Prodigy-sounding.

The Tracklisting for the CD/Vinyl release looks like so;
The Prodigy - Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned
01. Spitfire
02. Girls
03. Memphis Bells
04. Get Up Get Off
05. Hot Ride
06. Wake Up Call
07. Action Radar
08. Medusa’s Path
09. Phoenix
10. You’ll Be Under My Wheels
11. The Way It Is
12. Shootdown
The album is to be released by Maverick/XL Recordings on Tuesday September 14, 2004. Look out for live dates as they tour across the summer.

Climbatize was my favourite from their last album, though as a whole compilation I prefer Music for the Jilted Generation. In any case, will be looking forward to hearing their latest work.

Their website is crazy :O

I'm sure you want a taste of the new material...so

Girls
Memhis Bells

both trax are ripped from a promo Vinyl, in this Memphis Bells version there are no Princess Superstar vocals. it's an instrumental.

I have always liked the Prodigy since listening to those crazy lads in the middle of a wet field at 2am in the Sussex Hills above Brighton in the UK 10 years ago. I can't wait to hear them.

Thanks for the link bReaKbeaT. Nice one.

I Hate to say it that I cant stand the first new tracks off the Prodgy , you can check them out at www.streetwisemusic.com.

Liam Howlett in his early years (gilted generation) produced music way ahead of day in production terms. Most tracks off all 3 albums are brilliant in there own right.

The two new tracks are in my eyes a step backwards, His breaks were among the best & you would thing that time would improve, I was hoping for breaks that although may not have the same sound but the same genius to the likes of " BT - Hip Hop Phenomenon"

Maybe I hoped for 2 much

MY REVIEW!!!!!!!!!

I have heard this entire new release. Here's a track by Track review.....

Spitfire: great start track, big beat energy
Girls: OLD SCHOOL HIP HOP FLAVOR! Great track!
Memphis Bells: Taking it back to 94. Great synth mix
Get up Get out: Track has vocals, good beat not my favorits though
Hotride': Good track. More a move toward a straghtforward rock song structure w/ vocals. Different but good
Wake Up Call: redundant beat but nice track
Action Radar: good tarck with dark melody and 80s industrial synth sound.
Medusas Path: I love this track, great silky mideastern feel, very sexy! Great track!
Phoenix: Just when I thought Medusas Path was sexy here comes Phonix! Super funky, arabian beats!
You'll be Under my Wheels: A Sounds like it could have been on "Jilted" Great track lots of great breaks.
The Way it IS: You'll here a VERY familiar beat here. Liam takes control of it and brings it into another dimention.
Shootdown: very catchy track. I believe this one is with Noel Galleger.

Overall, different dirrection, less moody then FAT OF THE LAND, more old school flavor here for sure. Fans of "Jilted" will dig into this. If you heard DIRTCHAMBER then you'll here a natural progression with this new CD. Worth the wait! Hope this wets the appetite.....

Interesting disclaimer indeed... and my virus scanner picked up trojans the moment I went into that site. Not nice to encourage illegal downloading and on a site that might just stuff your pc up!!!

I found the Album to be a thorough disappointment.

I'm glad i downloaded it and tried it otherwise it would have been money wasted.

Maybe it's just not my kind of 'sound' anymore, but i enjoyed the 'Memphis' and 'Girls' tracks only. That really was it for me.

I had a mate in W.A. want me to post him a copy. I'll tell him the time it takes to burn it is half the value of the CD it's burnt to, and nether of them are worth the effort.

Yeah, well if you don't get the whole electro phat prodigy stylee, you aint going to like this album
they have done well to stay in the 'cool' forward edge of the music thing, but electro comes at a price.
some love it
some hate it

now i've listened to it a lot more my fav tracks are;
-girls,
-spitfire,
-pheonix,
-the way it (is this not the biggest Michael Jackson beat rip off in a long while),
-memphis bells,
-hotride

The Prodigy - Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned cover
RA Review
Seven years – a lifetime in dance music, and the time that has elapsed since the Prodigy’s all-conquering ‘Fat Of The Land’ album. In fact, it seemed that the day would never come when a sequel would appear, especially given the relative lack of invention on interim single ‘Baby’s Got A Temper’. Lia..

the album sucks...
i got the album late june and listened to it and i couldnt believe it.
its such a routine average run-of-the-mill album; complete dissappointment. for any of you who like it, listen to mftjg and exp. and even fotl, which is really really great but not a masterpiece, and then listen to aono, which is a very very stupid name btw. the first 3 albums were brilliant masterpieces, compared to the most recent one which is so horrible and sounds like recycled garbage from a mediocre electronica band, a shallow slightly above average album. after the many years of wait, a very unoriginal piece of poop.

I've just bought it today and will give it a proper listen tonight. It seems to have cause quite a stir in that people either really like it or they really hate.

yeah it's not massively original
as someone said

What do you get when you cross commercial electro and thefatoftheland?

Well, I've finally listened to it and to be honest, I don't really know what to say. 'Fat of the Land' is one of my all time favourite albums. A collection of tunes that were very diverse and unique in sound and were completely different to anything else that was being released in 1997. Dark, dirty and just plain nasty at times! The beauty of this album is that 7 years after its initial release, it still sounds fantastic!

Which brings us to their new release. What a disappointment! From an overall perspective, there's a sameness to all these tracks and at one point I thought I was listening to the same track but three had actually passed. It started off in a promising way with 'Spitfire' but after that it's really just uninspiring. I thought there could have been a change with 'Hotride' until I heard Juliette Lewis' vocals. Just plain yuck! And the screaching throughout 'Action Radar' is an embarrassment and extremely cringe-worthy. Also, there are sound elements in 'You'll Be Under My Wheels' that I'm convinced were taken from 'Fat of the Land'. If that's the case, it's a bit sad to be rehashing something that was already used by them.

Generally, the whole thing just sounds stale and out of touch. There's nothing on this that hasn't been done before, by others and in a better way. Always outnumbered, never outgunned??? Should have been shot on the spot!

3/10

exactly, if i wanted to listen to a certain song on that album, i just turn on shuffle. no diversity, no innovation, nothing that stands out. its amazing... when i heard the first track, i was like, "well, its not teriffic but its not horrible", then the songs continued to decline. i was just waiting for it to pick up. its like the bands on some kind of ego trip. they've always had quite an ego, but it wasnt this drastic and it was justified. from the title to the song titles to the lyrics, nothing but too much pride. from liam's interview, this album should have been the opposite of this result. prior to this album, they never had a "bad" song. although its still my favorite band, this really hurts their perfection and an almost omniscience.

by the way, anyone get the "always outsiders never outdone" version? its hardly above mediocre yet its about 10 times better. give it a whirl.

I seriously can't believe how bad this album is. And yes, it just smacks of ego. Instead of calling it 'Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned', it should have been called 'Too Much Time, Not Enough Money, Don't Give A Shit What We Release'!!!

And what adds insult to injury is that they scrapped an entire album in order to start fresh and created this one. Laughable really..
