Wasn't sure what to expect from this. Tracklist looks excellent though.

Anything with Oni Ayhun - OAR003-B on it already gets me excited, but then a Crazy Cousinz track just after?? At least it does seem to take in a very wide range of flavours. . . Anyway, as they say, the proof is in the eating (as it were)

I've heard the mix and it is fantastic. A wide variety of sounds but all flows very nicely, different styles melding into each other rather than being forced like unmatching jigsaw pieces!

Anything that begins with Ladyshave has to be, by the law of the fucking universe, to be quite good.

This looks good.

Though I may have got it a bit back to front! :) The full proverb is "The proof of the pudding's in the eating"
or another "whatever the ingredients, let the final-sweet taste alone be judged"

Either way both very relevant for this mix (I think?!)

(cheers Wiki)

Fair to say that Optimo have made some of the most enjoyable mixes I've ever heard from their Walkabout one to the Synth Summer one from last year (can see some of the tracks from that on this). looking forward to hearing it.

Great news! Guaranteed not to be yet another bland Fabric mix.
Hmmm, now where did I store those old Optimo (Espacio) mixes...

i had the chance to hear a promo copy today and it is a pretty enjoyable tracklist indeed.
nevertheless i'll be a wet blanket here, but something really badly pisses me off : LIVE ABLETON.
a great tool indeed, but when used to create and montage a mix please make sure the 'warp' function doesn't totally ruin the tracks.
to me, this mix (and so many others) is an insult to any music lovers who slightly care about hearing songs they love used in a proper way.
coming from respectable people like this (and released by such a firm), one could expect a much stronger awareness of sound quality, but they seem to have succumbed to the ready-mix easiness of today's technology. a bit of a shame, isn't it ?

I'm a Cubase whore so not familiar with Ableton, I've heard every man and his dog are using it though, maybe I should jump on the Abelton bandwagon?

Nice mix from Optimo though, first listen and it sounds good so far, I think you always need a couple of listens to get into mixes though.....

Yep, it's good folks!!! The thing I love about Optimo mixes is they all have the feel of the city and always have this positive feel running through them, kind of playful. Anyway, this Fabric release is worth getting, if only for the wonderful Oni Ayhun tune that weaves its way through.

What a great listen! very energetic very live.. excellent track selection, most of em were really very interesting. I do not care if it was done by Ableton or not.. as long as it sounds good, and there's a continuous infusion of creativity in there.. One of my favourite fabrics for sure!

My god that cd was bad. I seriously think I'm going to throw it in the garbage, where it belongs.

its quite good and it grows actually..

one thing that made me furious though.. why on earth include Spencer Parker's Yogoto?? Cursing
It's a plain copy of a track Paul Johnson wrote as "La Drid Austin" in 1992

La Drid Austin - You Got To Move

this is not sampling it's obvious plagiarism
Spencer Parker should be shot :p

:O Thats quite shocking! I actually pretty like that track but never realised its basically the same as the PJ track! Wow . . .

As for fabric 52 - it hasn't quite grabbed me yet. Some good, some not so . . . gotta still give it a few more listens. And i'm certainly guilty of judging the Crazy Cousinz track before actually hearing it - its not that bad to be honest! Who'd have thought it? :p

its scandalous imho... but i guess this is how people make music nowadays.. "sampling" (copy+paste) ftw!

the crazy cousinz track is not too bad
the only track in the mix i cant stand is Capablanca & T Keeler 's La Konk Fiesta

Optimo - Fabric 52 cover
RA Review
Coinciding with the climax of their dedicated run at Glasgow's Sub Club, Fabric commissioned the two Scottish DJs best known as Optimo to record a mix for their famous ongoing series. Judging from the tracklisting itself, it actually seems Fabric 52 would be more in sync with the FabricLive spirit..

was disappointed - expected so much more from a duo heralded as genre defiant masters with bottomless record bags

its was meh indeed , optimo really never change their mixing style splicing acid, rock and techno but theyve done this too many times before and done it better (how to kill the dj,psyche out)..meh

"but here it sounds totally natural and adroitly polished"

Listened once and a few mixes really stood out to me as 'Shoehorns', really bad clashes on a few of the tracks.

Was 100% unimpressed with this mix and sold it to a second-hand store for store credit, which I used on some Philip K. Dick books.

Really hoping Fabric ships the Zero T mix soon, as I am excited for that one...

Second hand store's doing pretty good business off you, eh Plenko? I get the feeling I'm seeing this comment of yours rather a lot lately.

I myself was pleasantly surprised by this mix. Was expecting eclectic, clashing crap and got something that I enjoyed listening all the way through instead.

Overall a good mix, not at all a brilliant mix. And that mix between Rheingold and Konk Dance Party is a stinker of the first degree. It's just lazy leaving a bad mix like that in a finished product. I expect more for 14 hard-earned euros.

True, but I am very excited for the next two installments - Zero T and Surgeon.

Hoping they both come ASAP as I believe both will likely be "keepers" for me.

Last mix CD I purchased was Secret Cinema's "Welcome to My Club" so waiting for that to arrive in the post.

Still wish they'd give an installment to Jori Hulkkonen and one to Jason Hodges......or how 'bout one for Dan Bell?
