 | RA Review There's a undeniable thread that binds Hyperdub and its artists. Yet label boss, spokesman and mainline protagonist, Kode 9, has gone on the record numerous times to say that he can't really put his finger on exactly what it is. When he finds it, he says, he simply knows it. Upon release of Ikonika'..

| #9 / Sun, 11 Apr 10 04:40 Really enjoyed the samples on Beatport for Ikonika's album on Hyperdub. Nice sound pallete and drum programming. It was easy to tell there is a passionate mind, heart, and soul behind her music. Even though it is doing things on the brighter side of the spectrum, and we normally associate soul, passion, deepness to darker sounding music. Watching her moves.

i've seen a lot of hype built around this release and was extremely disappointed (i guess but not surprised) with the sounds that came from within. originality in electronic music is a strange topic...but the sounds here just aren't interesting at all to me. yes...sounds like a step backwards

| #12 / Wed, 14 Apr 10 05:50 I'm loving this. It's so manic and there's so much going on. If you like 'Saharah Michael' then Quarta 330's remix of Kode 9 & Spaceape's '9 Samurai' is in a similarly mournful vein reminiscent of old videogames.
