Phil Kieran has invited the likes of Andrew Weatherall and Ivan Smagghe to take on tracks from his band's recent full-length. The Cape Town-based band will release their debut LP in September.

The German synth-maker enters the iPad fray with a novel take on its bread-and-butter, wavetable synthesis. Native Instruments will soon release "the world's smallest professional mixer and audio interface," compatible with Traktor DJ and Pro 2. Sequence, modulate and launch clips with the Lemur-affiliated Ableton Live touchscreen controller. The company's latest DJ system lets you play music from CDs, a USB stick or DJ software, and you can control it wirelessly from an iOS device. The latest in the company's Scarlett line features varying allotments of I/O and will hit stores next month. The app reconfigures the functionality of Native Instruments iPad DJ app for smaller touchscreens. RA's Jordan Rothlein spent a few days in Frankfurt surveying the sights and sounds at Europe's annual music technology showcase. Featuring four channels, an on-board soundcard and new effects controls, the mixer brings features from higher-end DJMs to a lower price point. Updates to two of the company's synthesizer lines, plus a compact drum controller, are set for May arrival.
