Though they've only release two records in 2013, the team behind White Material have had a stellar year. Our recent label of the month will cap the year off with one final Source Material, their monthly night at Chesters, due to go down over eight hours. Chicago house export Melvin Oliphant III, better known as Traxx, will provide the night's main set, with White Material co-founder DJ Richard and Berlin Community Radio's JM Moser on DJ support. A live set will come from Veiled, a duo with releases on industrial labels Silvox Recordings and Glass Coffin.

John Swing and EMG of Relative and LiveJam Records will play at Watergate on December 4th.1 Comment
Though John Swing and EMG are responsible for a growing number of gritty 12-inches, it's not easy to catch a DJ set from either. Since they started releasing music in 2009, they've only played a handful of dates, many of them in the UK or their native Italy. The pair's upcoming Watergate slot is part of the club's Wednesday night Meet residency, and sees them billed alongside Mr. Ties, a fellow Berlin-based Italian that's become a local favourite. With John Swing, EMG and Mr. Ties on the lineup, you can expect a night more musically diverse than most, with disco, techno, raw analogue house and everything in between sure to get a rinse.

The next edition of Love Family Park will not take place at the Mainwiesen in Hanau, Germany.2 Comments
According to a statement posted to Love Family Park's website, the Hessian State Ministry for Environment and Energy has not granted permission to use the site, which is within a landscape protection area. The promoters, as you'd expect, are taken aback by the decision to the shut the 17-year-old festival out of the site. A statement from organisers says: "[Hessian environmental secretary Lucia] Puttrich’s directive can only be interpreted as a decision against Love Family Park and consequently as a decision against the regional youth and music culture amounting to discrimination." It further notes that other events occurring within the protection area have not been denied permits, and studies have shown that the festival does not cause lasting environmental damage to the area. The festival, long associated with Sven Väth, cites Hanau's mayor Claus Kaminsky as one of its staunch supporters.
The festival’s host, Robin Ebinger, apparently has a "plan B" that will allow the show to go on for Love Family Park in 2014. Still, the festival is inviting "realistic and appropriate suggestions regarding the festival’s dimension" from fans. They've also started a petition to keep the the festival at the Mainwiesen.

Berlin club Shift will host sets from Ancient Methods, Florian Kupfer and the Sex Tags crew over the coming months.
Shift is one of Berlin's newer clubs, having only been operating since mid-2013. Located just a short walk from Tresor in Mitte, the visual art and music space's calendar has so far been a mixture of club nights, performances and afterparties. A night of drum & bass has been scheduled for this Sunday, November 24th, taken care of by UK acts Presha, FD and Skratch. L.I.E.S. signing Florian Kupfer, a regular guest at Shift, will spin on the 29th.
In December, Ready Made has locked in the heavy duty techno of Ancient Methods and forward-thinking electronics of Lower Order Ethics and Monica Hits The Ground on the 5th. More techno will come courtesy of US duo Point Break on the 14th—they will be headlining Sinensis, a party that's due to get underway at an early 2 PM. The familiar Sex Tags cast of Hops, DJ Fett Burger and DJ Sotofett are locked in for the only January party already announced, going down on the 25th.

Detroit artist Mike Huckaby will play a reel-to-reel set of material from jazz great Sun Ra at Berlin's The Record Loft on December 5th.6 Comments
Like many house producers, Mike Huckaby has long been a fan of Sun Ra. A few years ago, he compiled The Reel To Reel Edits, a collection of the late musician's tracks retouched over a series of EPs for Amsterdam label Kindred Spirits. He'll be returning to the reel-to-reel format at The Record Loft, delivering another selection of his own edits. He'll be sharing the bill with veteran producer Thomas Fehlmann, who'll be playing a jazz set, while Berlin-based minimalist Pole has been confirmed to play live. Nsyde Music boss Richard Zepezauer rounds out the lineup. It's due to kick off at 10 PM with a running time of six hours.

DJ Koze has soundtracked a new play called Autostück, Belgrader Hund.4 Comments
The production, directed by Stefan Pucher and written by Anne Habermehl, is being promoted by Schauspielhaus Stuttgart. There's one catch, though: the performance takes place in a car, and can only be viewed by three people at a time. A summary on the Schauspielhaus website says two actors sit in the front of the car while the audience sits in the back. The backdrop is the city of Stuttgart ("the real hero is the city itself," says the site). It's likened to "a road movie [somewhere] between Brinkmann and Lynch." We're not sure exactly how Koze's music features in the play—maybe through the car stereo? The production comes eight months on from Koze's most recent album, Amygdala.

Music video outfit the29nov films will celebrate seven years of operation with a party at Humboldthain Club later this month.6 Comments
If you're a techno fan with access to YouTube, you're likely familiar with the work of the29nov films. Founders Kevin Paschold and Sebastian Kökow have paired their video editing skills with the work of hundreds of electronic music producers over the past few years, usually piecing together cuts from classic films and advertising and applying them to techno (or sometimes house) tracks. To mark seven years in the game, Kökow and a cast of selectors that includes DJ Flush, Eomac and Alienata will spin for 12 hours from midnight on November 29th. Naturally, there'll be visuals, and entry will cost you €10.
