Andrew Grant will DJ at parties in Mexico and across the eastern United States in April and May. The Washington, DC-area native and longtime Circoloco resident in Ibiza will head back across the Atlantic for eight shows. First up is a brief visit to Mexico: on Friday the 26th, Grant will share the bill with the Culprit and Get Physical duo Climbers in Mexico City, and the following night he's booked for a party in Tulum. Then in May, Grant will go north of the border, first playing with production partner Lomez in Miami and then headlining a Better On Foot party in Baltimore. On Friday, May 10th, he'll play at Verboten in New York along with Josh Wink and Matthias Tanzmann. On Saturday the 11th, he's confirmed for a daytime event with tINI in Philadelphia, before jetting to DC later that night for another show with Tanzmann. At the end of the month, he'll hit Detroit to once again play Circoloco's annual party during Movement, though details for that one are still yet to be confirmed. Tickets to Verboten in NYC are available here on RA. Together Festival 2013 will take place in Boston from May 12th to 19th.
The festival is spread over 20 venues in the Boston and Cambridge area, along with panels and conferences to keep visitors busy during the daytime. Its musical focus has also expanded through the years, and in addition to dance music, Together's 2013 bill also features a healthy dose of hip-hop. Though the exact schedule hasn't been revealed yet, Four Tet will headline, with Agoria, Flying Lotus, Art Department, well-travelled locals Soul Clap and Chicago house mainstay Chez Damier among some of the other big names. Hessle Audio's Objekt, Robert Dietz, Slam and trap star Uz will also DJ. Mathew Jonson and Crystal Castles will perform live, while A$AP Ferg, Juicy J and Le1f make up some of the hip-hop quotient. ![]() Bruno Pronsato will head back across the Atlantic later this month, bringing his trippy, minimalist house and techno to three live gigs. The tour kicks off on Friday, April 19th, with a headline gig at a VOX night at Monarch in San Francisco—his first SF appearance since 2010. Then on Thursday the 25th, he'll head to Miami for another night at Treehouse. The mini-tour's last stop is in Brooklyn, where he will link up again with Blkmarket Membership, who've hosted him a couple times over the years. For this one, he's billed with Swedish techno artist Aril Brikha, also playing live, at a location yet to be announced. Tickets to all three parties—in San Francisco, Miami and Brooklyn—are available here on RA. Honey Soundsystem has announced its events for the rest of April and May. The San Francisco party started up back in 2006 as a platform for house and techno in the Bay Area, and has since settled into a weekly Sunday night slot at the Holy Cow. Residents Jason Kendig, Josh Cheon, Robot Hustle and P-Play have revealed their full agenda for April and May, which includes the regular party every Sunday as well as a few special one-offs along the way. Among the guests for the Sunday parties at The Holy Cow are NYC duo The Carry Nation, LA techno selector Silent Servant (who will perform live) and Hercules & Love Affair associate Kim Ann Foxman, along with Panorama Bar resident Steffi on May 26th. On April 19th, they'll collaborate with fellow SF promoter No Way Back for a special party at Beatbox with local DJs Conor and Solar. Another one-off at Public Works on April 26th will see Honey Soundsystem join forces with ICEE HOT, Grey Area Foundation For The Arts and NYC's Bunker to feature German jocks Prosumer and Murat Tepeli, plus Opal Tapes affiliate Huerco S. Tickets for Honey Soundsystem parties are available on their promoter page. ![]() Leading synth manufacturer Moog Music has announced a new partnership with Paxahau, the minds behind Detroit's iconic techno festival Movement, for the 2014 edition of Asheville, North Carolina's Moogfest.
Paxahau will replace AC Entertainment, which co-produced Moogfest for three years through 2012. Back in December, the partnership between Moog Music and AC Entertainment ended, and the latter company will throw their own festival, Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit, in Asheville in late October. That's usually when Moogfest has taken place, but the festival will not happen in 2013. Instead, according to an announcement on the Moog Music website, next year's edition is set to move to the opposite end of the calendar to take place on Friday, April 25th through Sunday the 27th. The switch from AC Entertainment, which is otherwise known for large-scale, rock-heavy festivals like Bonnaroo and Vegoose, to Paxahau seems like a logical one for Moog Music. Previous editions of Moogfest have hosted acclaimed artists like Richie Hawtin, Matthew Dear (AKA Audion) and Squarepusher—all three of whom happen to be on Movement's lineup this year. Unsurprisingly, further details for Moogfest 2014 have yet to be revealed, but you can keep updated via the festival's email list. ![]() Tim Sweeney will fly to Los Angeles next Wednesday to play a party on the rooftop of the Standard Hotel.
The party will serve as the launch event for this year's Zero Film Festival, which focuses on self-financed filmmakers. Short films and art installations from current and former festival participants will be on display, to go with a music program likely to feature plenty of disco, house and electro. Joining Sweeney are two other DJs with connections to DFA: former label manager Justin Miller, who started up his own HAKT imprint late last year, and Woolfy. Local alternative rock band Warpaint is also confirmed for a DJ set. Tickets to the Zero Launch Party are available here on RA. The second Idle event will take place on May 4th.
A new endeavour from NYC's Big Up Magazine, Idle launched back in February with a show featuring Old Apparatus. Idle's focus is wide-set and experimental, including an emphasis on the live and audiovisual dimension of electronic music. This time around, former Sandwell District associate Rrose will headline with his hypnotic techno. Also on the bill is Ceremony Recordings newcomer Prism House, whose own experimental work mixes techno with elements from uptempo genres. DJ support will come from Dub War resident Dave Q, Futra's Dustmite and MVC. The performances will be accompanied by an art show from Japanese visual artist Kahori Maki. As with most of Reconstrvct promoter wastenot's events, the gig will take place at a secret location in Brooklyn. Tickets for the party are available on RA. ![]() Cassy will tour the US and Canada this month. In addition to appearing regularly at Berlin's vaunted Panorama Bar club, nomadic DJ Cassy Briton has a hectic touring schedule. Her visits to the US are becoming more frequent with each year, and 2013 looks like her busiest yet, as she also prepares to drop a mix CD for fabric later in 2013. This month she'll make her second stateside appearance of the year, following a few dates in Miami during WMC. The tour will begin on the West Coast, kicking off in San Francisco at Vessel and moving on to Vancouver the next night. On April 13th, she'll make her debut at the Coachella festival, and then she'll fly to Miami and Chicago after a few days' break. Her brief jaunt will wrap up with another set at Coachella for their second weekend on April 20th. ![]() Amon Tobin will play three DJ dates on the East Coast in late April. Having spent the past few years touring his elaborate ISAM live show, DJ sets from Tobin have become a rarity. Typically a mixed affair of his own material (including tracks under his Two Fingers moniker), dubstep, drum & bass and hip-hop, they tend to be a lot more straightforward than the increasingly experimental bent of his solo productions. He'll take his collection with him to Boston, New York and DC, starting on April 19th at Boston's Paradise Lounge. On the 20th he'll spin at Manhattan's Le Poisson Rouge, and on the 21st he'll hit DC's U Street Music Hall. There is no word yet on Tobin's future projects, but late last year he dropped a new album as Two Fingers. ![]() Hot Natured will play their first live set in the US on July 6th. The collaborative project between Hot Creations bosses Jamie Jones and Lee Foss (plus Luca C and vocalist Ali Love) has so far been an outlet for dance music tilted more towards pop. So poppy, in fact, that last year's "Benediction" actually broke the UK top 40. Their first American performance together will take place at Terminal 5 in Manhattan, with DJ support from both Jones and Foss, along with Luca C and Ali Love's Infinity Ink project. The next evening they'll make an appearance at Chicago's Wavefront festival. These will be among the group's first-ever gigs, with the outfit set to make their live debut in London later this month. Tickets for the NYC party are available on RA. ![]() Viewing 41 - 50 of 1,792 news articles
