Doomsday, which began in 2012, is Antwerp's only indoor electronic music festival. Held at the Antwerp Expo, a large-scale conference and expo centre with space for a few thousand punters, the festival primarily hosts music at the tougher end of the techno and bass spectrum. Ben Klock, Extrawelt and Len Faki are among the acts locked in for slots across Doomsday's four rooms, with UK acts Perc, Truss, Mount Kimbie and O/V/R also on the bill. With a running time of ten hours, the festival is due to kick off at 8 PM on December 21st. There will also be a significant batch of local acts spinning across the night.

The biggest names will be saved for last, with Italian Visionquest- and Minus-approved duo Tale Of Us set to headline on December 28th for one of the venue's last parties of the year.

Belgian label We Play House will release a compilation called Our Beat Is Still New.6 Comments
The collection pays homage to a genre of dance music native to Belgium: new beat. In a blog post, WPH label boss Red D explained the concept: "We decided to ask a bunch of our favourite producers to make a new track inspired by Belgian new beat from the '80s."
Our Beat Is Still New features contributions from Optimo's JD Twitch, Amsterdam-based pair Juju & Jordash, the Uncanny Valley trio of Jacob Korn, Credit 00 and Sneaker, Swedish techno veteran Aril Brikha, a "big name UK house producer who wishes to remain anonymous," and plenty of Belgian talent like Outlander, San Soda and Locked Groove.
In a novel twist, each artist has been asked to adopt a new beat-style alias for the project. This means that Juju & Jordash become Azab & Crybaby J, while Red D is Max Erotic, Aril Brikha is The Assyrian Lover and Locked Groove is Frank De Wolf. The compilation will be released on four 12-inches—due out in June, September, October and November, as well as a digital bundle. You can listen to clips of all four tracks from the first EP on the We Play House SoundCloud page.

Extrema Outdoor Belgium 2013 will take place in Houthalen-Helchteren from May 17th through 19th.
Landing a little earlier in the calendar than usual this year, the festival is the annual Belgium event put on by management and booking group Extrema Agency. The Kelchterhoef park in Eastern Belgium will host the three-day event, as it has in the past, offering partygoers the option to camp or to commute to the festival site each day. Friday's stages are set up along the shore of a lake for a "beach party," while Saturday and Sunday take place elsewhere on the site.
Each night's five stages are organized by theme. Davide Squillace and Cassy will headline the Circoloco stage, while Jamie Jones and Damian Lazarus will oversee Rebel Rave. Ushuaia's area will host Luciano and Reboot, and Tiga, Ame and Max Cooper are some of the names that will hit the other stages. Kompakt's Kölsch will headline Friday's beach party, and Sasha and Dusky are among the lineup for a special Lakeside venue on Sunday.

Locked Groove will launch a self-titled label in May.11 Comments
Belgian artist Tim Van de Meutter only put out his first release last year, but he's made quite a splash in that short time. Across several EPs for Hotflush and Turbo, he's established a diverse sound taking him everywhere from deep house to banging techno and even trance. Locked Groove Records will initially remain an outlet for Van de Meutter's own material—though releasing work from others in the future is reportedly not out of the question. The first release, a limited-run vinyl-only pressing as with all of the imprint's future releases, offers up two tracks showing off the more melodic side of his work.

Moon Harbour head and Circo Loco resident Matthias Tanzmann will take top billing in the second room, alongside Aella's Hermanez and Pierre.

This year's 10 Days Off festival will take place July 18th through 29th at the Vooruit Arts centre in Ghent, Belgium.1 Comment
Organisers have announced the first 10 acts for the event, which will hold its 19th edition in 2013. 10 Days Off initially started out as a techno festival—in its early days it was actually called 10 Days Of Techno—but now showcases a much broader range of electronic music. The initial lineup included five live acts, with Space Dimension Controller, Todd Terje & Lindstrøm, Egyptian Hip Hop, Gui Boratto and Jon Hopkins, who recently announced details of his fourth solo album, all confirmed. The DJ bill so far contains Bicep, Dusky, George FitzGerald, Freeform Five and R&S regular Lone. More names will be added in the coming months.

Fade-In will make its debut in Brussels on May 8th.5 Comments
The one-day festival is a collaboration from the teams behind Mannheim's long-running Time Warp event and Brussels' Fuse club. They see it as an exercise in getting back to basics: for all intents and purposes, Fade-In is a rave, taking over three rooms in a Victorian-style postal warehouse and filling them with a number of notables from the European festival circuit. The lineup in room one—with Richie Hawtin, Sven Väth and Loco Dice featured—should feel familiar to anyone who's followed Time Warp over the years. Big-room techno from Adam Beyer and Chris Liebing will dominate room two, while a more eclectic lineup headed up by Scuba, Skudge and Hessle Audio co-conspirators Ben UFO & Pearson Sound soundtracks room three. Subb-an, Pan-Pot, Gary Beck and native son Locked Groove are also on the bill. The organizers note that more artists will be announced closer to the date of the festival, so keep an eye on Fade-In's website for the full lineup.

50 Weapons will host a showcase in Antwerp on March 8th.1 Comment
The imprint was started up by German duo Modeselektor back in 2006 as an outlet for club-friendly white label releases. Over the years, however, 50 Weapons has developed its own personality and distinct roster of artists (as seen in our Label of the Month feature), and expanded its release platform to include albums as well.
Modeselektor themselves will headline the gig with a DJ set. Frenchman Bambounou, who released his debut LP Orbiting on 50 Weapons last year, will also DJ, and the UK's Benjamin Damage—fresh off the release of his own Heliosphere LP—will play live, as will German signee Phon.o.
