Fabric Live resident, Joe Ransom is to host a new monthly night in London based club The Embassy Bar starting this weekend. The monthly session’s titled Money Shot will feature in your face urban funk, rnb, hip-hop and left-field type sounds and will also host some recognisable faces with monthly guest appearances. With the launch event this Saturday July 5, and following events on the first Saturday of each month at The Embassy in Islington, known as a cosy solid late night drinking venue, it will be an interesting and more laid back cool and comfortable addition to the London club scene. This kick-off event is to see the respectable turntable masters, the Scratch Perverts (pictured), together with Hatch and of course Joe Ransom in control of the beats. Entry will be a super cheap £2 before 10 and £4 thereafter for more information check out the full event details. The details for this years Tribal Gathering Weekender (yes, it covers the entire weekend) have been announced and as you would expect the line-up of the so far confirmed names are enough to get us excited. Last years event was nothing short of a massive success and the Tribal Gathering crew this year will be providing us with a four (five if you include the VIP room) arena affair. These Arena’s are as follows: Are You Tribal, Tribal Sessions, Feathers & Face Paint, The Soap Bar & The VIP Sound Systems and will include the following (with more still to be announced) Djs and Producers… Danny Howells, James Zabiela, Layo and Bushwacka!, Plump Djs, Stanton Warriors, Steve Lawler, Cash Money, David Duriez, Dj Sneak (Live), Erol Alkan, Francois K, Greg Vickers, H-Foundation (Hipp E and Halo), Yousef, Ian 'Airtight' Taylor, Jon Carter, Krysko, Phil Weeks, and Tribalist Soundsystem.The Weekender will be held up north, at the Southport Sands and will run in November from Friday the 7th until Sunday the 9th. As per their standard the tickets (costing £99 each) include chalet accommodation for the three days in a fully equipped self catering apartment. The Tribal Gathering crew are also holding a Warehouse Party with headliners including: Jeff Mills, Laurent Garnier, Groove Armada, Derrick Carter and loads more at a ‘secret’ location in Manchester on Saturday the 23rd of August. Starting this weekend, some of the worlds leading DJ's are to be featured in the National Portrait Gallery in London. Experienced music photographer Chris Lopes will be displaying portraits of top artists including Carl Cox, Roger Sanchez, Fat Boy Slim, Pete Tong, Danny Rampling, Lottie, Princess Julia, Lisa Lashes, Tim Deluxe, and Josh Wink giving us a rather unique look at some of the world's most talented DJ's. After the exhibition finishes at the National Portrait Gallery on September 28 it will tour around clubs and bars throughout the UK. The series will also go to print and will be titled ‘dj's by lopez’. This years V 2003 Festival in the UK is already set to be a rather large weekend, with a range of top artists include Coldplay, Underworld, Lemon Jelly, Morcheeba, Kosheen, Moloko, Foo Fighters, Goldfrapp, Dirty Vegas, Mint Royale, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. But to beef up the electronic side of the festival the Distinctive Records crew responsible for the Y4K series and some of the industries top production talent, like Hybrid have been called in to host an Arena. The Distinct’ive Y4K Dance Arena at this years festival will feature Way Out West, FreQ Nasty, The Freestylers, Dub Pistols, Tayo with more still to be announced. V2003 is set to take place over 2nd weekend in August (the 15th & 16th) at Weston Park Staffordshire, and Hylands Park, Chelmsford. For more information you can check out the V2003 site below. Subliminal head honcho Erick Morillo will makes his first London appearance of 2003 to celebrate the launch of his upcoming (July 3 released) ‘Subliminal Sessions’ album. Taking place at The Cross on July 12, Morillo will be joined by Seb Fontaine, MYNC Project and Davis Guetta. Tickets are £15. Those who reside in the northern part of the English isle will be pleased to hear that Mr Morillo will be performing an earlier gig at Bed in Sheffield this weekend (Saturday June 28).If you’re a student in the UK, the impossible has just happened. Creamfields just got better. Creamfields organisers are offering students who purchase their tickets from STA travel before July 14 a £5 discount making the total £42 + booking fee. Taking place on Saturday August 23 and encompassing 10 arenas including stages hosted by Radio 1, Bugged Out, Cream Future Trance and more it will be on of the biggest and best parties of 2003. The extraordinary line-up includes the following and a host more: Tickets for non students are £47 + booking fee. London is rapidly becoming a hive of activity for one-off performances from some of the globes most talented musicians. Underworld are the latest to announce their intentions to light up the London circuit with a gig at Somerset House on August 9. It will mark their first appearance after their highly anticipated Back To Mine CD release which hits record store shelves on July 28. Full details here.. Less than two weeks after their London concert they will light up the stage at the V2003 festivals in Chelmsford(August 16) and Stafford (August 17). The capacity crowd enjoyed the 4+ hour set as Sasha continued to play well past the proposed 7am finish leaving all who left standing set to remember this night for some time. The night was also complimented by the happenings in Room Two where Terry Francis and Adam Freeland proceeded to tear things up in the always dark and sizable second room. Japanese production stalwart and legend turntablist DJ Krush will land on the UK’s summer shores for a one-off performance at London’s Cargo on Wednesday July 2. The midweek gig will see one of the far east best known DJ’s traverse the beat jungle at ‘Arigato Mutha F%#^er’, a theme taken from the famous brutal Japanese movie ‘Battle Royale’. The full line-up for the One-Off London gig is as yet not complete with a few special guests expected to perform. Tickets are a mere £8 and the event kicks off at 8:00pm. The End will open its doors this Satruday to one of their most welcomed DJs, Derrick Carter, and his Classic Records partner Luke Solomon. Joining them in the main room will be fellow American DJ Heather. With all three spinning in the same room, it will surely be a great summer night in London. Check below for full events details.
