Russian nightclub ARMA17 have launched a new record label called ARMA.9 Comments
Set in a 19th century industrial complex in Moscow, ARMA17 has been a key fixture of the city's nightlife since 2008. It's goal has been to bring acclaimed underground artists to Russia, while at the same time putting the city's own scene on the map. "There was a clear need to change Moscow's existing scene," say the club's management. "When we launched ARMA17 it was almost the only spot in the city which was not built around luxury or a commercial agenda, but we definitely created a new fresh movement. The current Moscow club scene can offer a number of venues with quality music." In the three years it's been open, ARMA17 has hosted dozens of artists like Ricardo Villalobos, Seth Troxler, Shackleton and a:rpia:r, always billing local DJs as well.
ARMA follows a similar concept. The label places a dual emphasis on international artists and Russian DJs and producers, some established, some just getting started. ARMA 01, for instance, features Bruno Pronsato and dOP alongside Moscow's AntonZap and up-and-comers Easy Changes and Andrey Zots. Future 12-inches continue this trend with tracks from Akiko Kiyama and local stalwarts like Dusty Baron and DJ Jungle.
01. Anton Zap - Fidget
02. Piticu - mke
03. Easy Changes - Canes Venatici
04. Bruno Pronsato - US Lipstick
05. Vakula - Lool 08
06. Andrey Zots - Useless
07. Id10ts - Nu Vot (B.A.D. & dOP Remix)
ARMA 01 is currently available on ARMA.

The next party at Moscow's Arma 17 will take place on Friday 8th April.
The venue has already assembled some fairly substantial lineups in 2011, with Seth Troxler, Ivan Smagghe, DJ Sneak and Magda among those having graced the decks. The upcoming party on April 8th could be their biggest offering this year, though, as Poker Flat boss Steve Bug arrives in the city to headline Arma 17's sizeable main space. Israeli producer Guy Gerber will also explore the middle-ground between house and techno that Bug so often favours, while recent DJ-Kicks collaborators Soul Clap and Wolf + Lamb will likely push a more party-friendly house sound with influences of pop and R&B. A huge support cast will also be in attendance that includes DJs Akiko Kiyama, Abelle, Anrilov, BVoice, Easy Changes and Etapp Kyle.

Freak N' Chic's Shonky has been lined up to play Moscow venue Fabrika this Friday 18th February.4 Comments
The Parisian producer first came to the attention of the wider scene back in 2006 through his and Jennifer Cardini's August In Paris release for Mobilee. There followed a run of slick minimal and deep house cuts for labels like Crosstown Rebels and Contexterrior, though the bulk of his releases have been through hometown label Freak N' Chic, with whom he's released an album and a string of 12-inches.
Shonky's appearance in Moscow this coming Friday 18th at Fabrika is courtesy of Guru's Kitchen, whose past parties have brought the likes of Robert Babicz, Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Phonique to the venue.

Kode9 will headline Capital Bass on Friday 18th February.2 Comments
Steve Goodman, AKA Kode9, has come to be known as one of the foremost ambassadors for the dubstep genre, although these days you'll find him playing and releasing anything but. Hyperdub has been pushing a range of styles on the 12-inch format—UK funky, Grime and garage—while reserving the LP releases for acts like Darkstar and King Midas sound to offer skewed interpretations of pop and soul respectively. It was also recently announced that Kode9 and The Spaceape will follow-up their 2006 album Memories of the Future with an LP entitled Black Sun in April of this year.
Goodman's DJ sets are pretty much indicative of the label's far-reaching output: those at Solyanka Club on Friday should expect a colourful array of UK bass music styles. Goodman will be joined on the bill by DJs including Pixelord, FStep, Sandra, Pirumov, Algorythmik and Urbanite.

For New Year's Eve this year, Arma 17 has booked Romanian DJ team a:rpia:r, AKA Raresh, Rhadoo and Petre Inspirescu.5 Comments
Housed in a former factory with high ceilings and loads of exposed concrete, Arma 17 is one of Moscow's best destinations for fans of underground house and techno. Their NYE party last year was undoubtedly a coup, thanks to appearances from Ricardo Villalobos, Zip and Margaret Dygas among others. This year's event looks poised for greatness as well, with a lineup that's surely one of the region's best. Aside from the aforementioned a:rpia:r crew, the bill includes Circo Loco jock Matthias Tanzmann, Perlon stalwart Sammy Dee and Visionquest member Shaun Reeves, plus a live set from Berlin-based artist Bruno Pronsato. Support will come from a crew of local talent, such as Mike Spirit, Nastia and the duo Easy Changes, as well as Berlin-based DJ Oliver Huntemann.

The first Yota Space festival will take place this month in St. Petersburg, Russia, beginning with an eight-hour opening concert this Sunday night.2 Comments
Aside from his prolific and influential career as a musician, Eno has long been immersed in the world of digital art, devising various installations and what he calls "video paintings." The Yota Space festival will engulf five floors of the former Frunzenskiy department store with this kind of multimedia artwork. "This is a great platform for digital art and music, which in my mind have a natural cohesion to one another," Eno says. "This is the first time my work 77 Million Paintings will be seen in Russia, which combines art and music, my two great loves."
The two-week event series kicks off this weekend with a performance from indie-electronic favourites Hot Chip. Russian production outfit SCSI-9 will take the stage as well, along with Czech duo D-Pulse.

Fresh from a summer season in Ibiza the Cadenza Vagabundos party will head to Moscow on Friday, 19th November, with Luciano topping the bill.4 Comments
Luciano has been combining the deeper elements of electronic music with Latin grooves in his productions for over a decade, during which time he has released material on labels such as Perlon, Mental Groove and his own Cadenza. His touring schedule has taken him to all corners of the globe in 2010, including a weekly slot at Ibiza clubbing institution Pacha throughout the summer. Ernesto Ferreyra, meanwhile, is due to release his debut album, El Paraíso De Las Tortugas, on Cadenza on 8th November but has already garnered plenty of support in the DJ world through releases on Thema, Mike Shannon's Cynosure imprint and last year's Siluetas, also on Cadenza. Completing the lineup is Mirko Loko who having began his production career as one half of Lazy Fat People with Ripperton has since released on Desolat and Cadenza.
