  • Both Stefan Goldmann's The Transitory State and Dave Aju's Open Wide have been nominated for the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik. In English that translates to The German Record Critics' Award, which according to Goldmann, is Germany's equivalent to the Grammys, albeit with less hype surrounding them. He also commented on it being strange that two electronic albums had been included in this year's nominations, saying that "for ages this award has been ultra-conservative, seemingly being 'reserved' for classical and jazz recordings." That said, in recent years, the "Nu & Extreme" category has opened up the awards, acknowledging work from the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Burial, Portishead and Flying Lotus. Either way, don't get your party hats on quite yet: The awards are set to be announced in June of next year.
