  • Ryuichi Sakamoto has announced details of his new album, and also of a Japanese tour that will run in partnership with iTunes. The forthcoming album, entitled Out Of Noise, is Sakamoto's first in five years. Released in March, it'll be followed by a Japanese tour that takes in 18 cities in 21 shows. This isn't just any old tour, however. An exclusive partnership with iTunes means that every single performance is recorded and made available to purchase through the iTunes Music Store. For Japanese users, audio will appear on the site within 24 hours of the show, with worldwide digital distribution following shortly afterward. Bands such as The Who and Pearl Jam have experimented with both physical CD and download sales previously, but this partnership with Sakamoto marks the first time that iTunes has embarked on a deal of this kind.
