Hot Chip have mixed the latest edition of Bugged Out!'s A Bugged Out Mix series, which is due for release next month.

The band are following in the footsteps of Erol Alkan, Miss Kittin, Felix Da Housecat and Klaxons by taking part in the series, and as with all of the previous instalments, the mix will be split into "Bugged Out" and "Bugged In" discs. The first CD deals with the house and techno that you can find the boys playing in clubs around the world, easing in with cuts from Gas and Theo Parrish before stepping up a gear or three. Throughout its 24 tracks it worms its way through stripped-back acid (Armando), dubstep (Peverelist), minimal techno (Mark-Henning) and even a new Hot Chip track in the form of "Take It In."

Those looking for a restrained home listening selection on the "Bugged In" mix, though, may very well be disappointed, as the Hot Chip boys have opted to lay down more of a house party selection that takes in everything from yacht rock (Hall & Oates, The Doobie Brothers) to grime (Dizzee Rascal) as it romps through genres with wild abandon.

Mon, 03 Aug 2009Harry Axt - Deliberately Selected - that acid bassline doesnt actually exist on the track - I wonder if they did it themselves - its wonderful!

Thu, 11 Jun 2009This was a cool mix. Disc 2 was a little too eclectic but still amusing. Disc 1 was very sharp and certainly more geared towards this site

Oh god make it stop.

This just goes to show you, kids. Ableton is a wonderful thing, but it's not a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser for music.

Mon, 18 May 2009The second disc jumps all over the place. By the time I got to the Doobie Brothers I felt motion sickness - was that the intention?
