Get ready for the Nubreed: Jim Rivers will be mixing up the next in the Global Underground series, which is due for release next month.

The previous instalment in the Nubreed series came out all the way back in 2002, but GU's Andy Horsfield is quick to explain the reason behind the seven year gap. "It’s been a long search, but finally I’ve found a DJ worthy of the Nubreed series," he says. "Jim's DJing, original productions, and remixing make him stand head and shoulders above the current crop of DJs; he’s a true star."

The aforementioned Nubreed compilation from 2002 was mixed by Satoshi Tomiie, and incidentally, it was Tomiie's Saw imprint that put out Rivers' debut single three years ago. After further releases showcasing his progressive techno sound on Simple, Bedrock and his own Misfit label, the Bristol-based producer now has the opportunity to highlight his talent behind the ones and twos. "To get this kind of opportunity—and from such a well-respected label—well, it kind of blew me away," Rivers exclaims. "The previous releases were of such a high standard that I knew I had to deliver. Hopefully, people will enjoy it."
