  • Disco anoraks take heed: DJHistory.com will release a collection of Vince Aletti's articles about the emerging disco phenomenon of the '70s later this year. Aletti's influential columns for Record World magazine were first compiled for an Matthew Higgs' "Male" exhibition, held last summer at New York's White Columns, but now they are to see widespread release in a 500 page book, which will be the first to be released by the DJHistory organisation. (Although it may be the first DJHistory book, founders Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton are no strangers to the publishing world, having previously released two books on both the history and methodology of DJing.) Aletti's book, entitled The Disco Files: 1973-78, will feature all of his weekly columns for Record World (which include playlists from disco legends such as Larry Levan, Walter Gibbons and Nicky Siano) in addition to other disco-related articles for magazines such as Rolling Stone. The Disco Files will see a release in April, but in the meantime you can check out DJHistory's interview with Aletti, and even a PDF sample of some of the book's contents.
