Attempting to break the previous record for the longest stint behind decks of 48 hours, the Orlando based DJ Martin Boss had everything set. His website was ready to broadcast his entire set live via video feed and his record collection was just waiting to be thrown around.
Disappoint he did not, his site received over 100K hits each day as he smashed the current record by a full 24 hours! His marathon 72 hour stint behind the decks at Vinyl Frontier in Orlando has put him well into the record books. This amazing set started at 2:00pm on the 1st of February and finished at 4pm on February the 4th at Vinyl Frontier in Orlando.
Replying to being asked if he ever wanted to give up, the Boss told BurnitBlue:
“Well I wouldn't say I ever wanted to, but there were times when I thought that I did not have a choice or I couldn't stay awake.
“I even forgot where I was a few times during the last 16 hours of my set. At one point, I couldn't even figure out the whole mechanics of the mixing process. My brain kept thinking about it and trying to figure it out, but I had to actually make myself stop focusing on the process of mixing and just do it!
“Just before I took the last record off I had so much adrenaline pumping through me that I felt very powerful, yet I was at probably the weakest point I have ever been in my life. That conflicting mindset was really challenging to me both physically and mentally. It was a very strange feeling yet somehow very spiritual.
“It was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life, but also one of the most rewarding.”
