Bestival have announced the initial acts that will play the 2009 edition of the Isle Of Wight festival.
Massive Attack and
Kraftwerk will headline on the Friday and Saturday nights respectively, with other main stage performances coming from Seasick Steve,
Klaxons, and in vogue indie rockers Fleet Foxes and MGMT. Most of the electronic line-up is still to be unveiled, but the Bestival crew have revealed that
Future Sound Of London are set to play a rare live set, in addition to performances from kraut-pop duo Fujiya & Miyagi, rave barons Altern-8, and everyone's favourite bass-wielding mentalist,
Squarepusher.
As far as DJ sets go, there's a heavy dubstep presence from Rusko,
Skream and
Tayo, whilst
Derrick Carter will keep the house-heads happy with an undoubtedly boompty selection. Other guests of note for the September festival include RA podcastees
Heartbreak and
Pivot, as well as
Metronomy,
Diplo and
Buraka Som Sistema.
Bestival always has a different fancy dress theme for each year, 2009's being "A Space Oddity." If the weather is
anything like last year, then a waterproof space-suit may well be your best bet.
