Superstar DJ Norman Cook (AKA
Fatboy Slim) has checked himself into rehab in an attempt to combat his addiction to alcohol.
Reports have circulated that Cook entered a specialist clinic on Monday, with his manager Garry Blackburn confirming this in an official statement. "It's all pretty straightforward," he explained. "He has gone in voluntarily to sort out his drinking problem."
All this comes after the DJ experienced a problematic performance at the Good Vibrations festival in Australia. At the Sydney leg of the event, a clearly intoxicated Cook was seen yelling at his laptop during a set that was plagued by various bouts of silence and very little in the way of mixing. In a statement released a few days after the show, Cook blamed the poor performance on technical problems: "The Sydney crowd this evening were amazing! Despite receiving a complete soaking from the biblical downpour that accompanied the entire set (I haven’t seen weather like that since back home at Glastonbury two years ago), they kept me going during the technical nightmare that was my left turntable going down and me having to do the last half hour of the set with one deck and some very un-DJ-like silences... Sydney I salute you!"
