5 Days Off : Holland

The Mutek Festival has announced the initial slate of performers for its 10th anniversary edition.

Wolfgang Voigt making his North American debut as Gas is among the highlights in a lineup that is sure to whet the appetites of electronic music fans the world over. In all, 28 performers were announced today with Gas, Cyclo (Carsten Nicolai and Ryoji Ikeda's legendary and rare collaboration), Moderat, The Modern Deep Left Quartet (Cobblestone Jazz and The Mole), Appleblim, Trus'me, Jaki Liebezeit & Burnt Friedman and Mathew Jonson vs. Dandy Jack leading the way.

While it isn't clear yet who will be playing when, we can tell you that there will be a Raster.Noton showcase, Mike Shannon's Cynosure will be celebrated with a 10th anniversary label night and Resident Advisor will have the distinct pleasure of assembling a two-room, all-night event in conjunction with the festival headlined by Carl Craig—a night which will also feature dOP and tobias. And, as if all that weren't enough, none other than Akufen will perform live for the first time in more than five years, premiering all new material at the festival.

All in all, it's looking to be a very special five days in Montreal this year. The box office for passports will open at 12 PM today, giving prospective attendees the chance to grab up Mutek Passports—which includes access to the entire five days of music, as well as panel discussions and workshops—at the early-bird price of $195 or Weekend Passports at $125. comment 87 Comments

Thu, 28 May 2009Hey fellow Mutek people!
I'm heading to Mutek from Europe for the first time. I'll just be going alone this trip, so looking for some others to hang out with at some of the gigs. Been to Montreal once before, but only for a few days.
cheers,
Colin
